Leigh Dorrington Yacht Brokers commenced business in 1994 as Classic Yacht Brokers. Leigh Dorrington Yacht Brokers are now one of Australia’s most successful yacht brokerage businesses with a network of experienced yacht brokers based in Queensland New South Wales and Victoria.
Leigh Dorrington’s yachting history:
I began my sailing career in 1958 at the Beaumaris Yacht Club Victoria. My first yacht was a ‘P’ Class dinghy and thus began my passion for yachting. In 1964 I began a four year sailmaking apprenticeship with E.F. Prior Sails. These were the foundation years of my yachting career and in 1970 I started my own sailmaking business. My sails have won numerous World Australian and State championships and in 1984 I was appointed coach and sailmaker for the Soling class at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
In 1990 I moved to sunny Queensland and purchased my first motor boat! Megsie is a 1947 Halvorsen 50 motor cruiser and together with my partner Wendy we completed a total restoration in 2006. I now race an Elan 40 on Sydney Harbour and compete in all the major yachting regattas around Australia.
