Description: Kadey Krogen 42 Widebody Trawler
HISTORY OF THE KROGEN 42 WIDEBODY TRAWLER
Today's generation of Kadey-Krogen trawler yachts results from a 39-year heritage of innovation and more than 600 yachts built.

Between 1976 and 1998 Kadey Krogen built 206 examples of the Krogen 42.

There's no mistaking the rugged heritage of the Krogen 42' trawler yacht. Her forebears were hardworking shrimp boats built to respect the sea and ride out any weather. While her profile is far more refined and her quarters the height of comfort, the Krogen 42' is as salty and seagoing safe as those commercial fishing sister ships of yore.

The late naval architect and designer, James S. Krogen, was a master of merging the tried and true with fresh, innovative concepts, creature comforts and convenience. His near-three decades of commercial design gave extra dimension and distinction to his offshore pleasure craft. Outstanding performance is inherent.

The Krogen 42' trawler yacht was designed and constructed for yachtsmen and women who prefer timeless to trendy and solid comfort to making waves. The wineglass transom of her full-keeled displacement hull rises out of the water for minimum drag, maximum efficiency. At 8 knots, her range is close to 2,000 nautical miles.

You can cruise from ocean to ocean or simply while away a weekend in a nearby cove. The whole world of water is securely yours in this stalwart lady. While as salty as they come, the Krogen 42' trawler yacht was thoughtfully planned for privacy, with easy and congenial tri-level living. Practical aspects are integrated with ingenious features to ensure that pleasure trips are truly pleasurable.

The saloon is bright and airy with sliding picture windows for sightseeing and sea gazing even while comfortably seated. The galley is open to the saloon and full of convenience. Quarters below decks include a private master head with shower, and guest head also with shower. In every detail from bow to stern, the Krogen 42' trawler yacht reflects quality and caring.

NOT FOR HIRE is a 2 cabin / 2 head Krogen 42' that is very well equipped, including Naiad hydraulic stabilizers and a Bow Thruster. She has received constant attention and has only 500 hours since major engine overhaul. With her proven Krogen full displacement, you can reach your favorite anchorage or head out for distant ports. NOT FOR HIRE is equipped with both air conditioning and separate diesel heating systems for all-weather cruising. She is fully found and ready-to-go, just add your provisions and slip the lines.

Please call Andrew Coffey to arrange for your personal inspection, slip for survey, sea trial, shipping and Customs entry. Andrew is Kadey Krogen's representative for Australia and New Zealand for both new and brokerage Kadey Krogen yachts.

Construction
Hull is fibreglass sandwich construction using closed-cell PVC foam core. Closed-cell PVC foam does not deteriorate or absorb water. Fibreglass schedule uses heavy hand lay-up mat and roving. The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull. Decks and superstructure are fibreglass sandwich construction.

Saloon
The saloon is entered through double doors from the covered aft deck. To starboard is a comfortable built-in L-shaped settee with generous storage under. The port side features two (2) Ekornes stressless chairs and side table. There are large opening screened windows port and starboard, a retractable screen for the aft doors, mini-blinds with teak valances and fitted and bound carpeting. There is a new (2015) DVD player and flat screen TV mounted to the aft starboard bulkhead, and wall mounted lamps port and starboard.

Galley
The open-faced galley is forward of the saloon, starboard side. Major components include:
Sea Frost refrigerator and freezer (2011)
Force 10 propane stove with oven
Sharp Carousel microwave oven
Large stainless steel sink
Generous storage and counter space
Seagull purified water

Guest Stateroom/Office
Forward and down from the saloon / galley is the guest cabin to starboard. There is a large settee / berth, Pullman berth, desk, hanging locker, two (2) opening ports and excellent cabinet and shelf storage.

Guest Head
Opposite the guest cabin is the guest / day head with separate stall shower, vanity with medicine cabinet and stainless steel sink, two (2) opening ports and electric toilet.

Master Stateroom
The master stateroom on NOT FOR HIRE is forward with an en suite head with stainless steel sink, VacuFlush toilet and stall shower. There is a large double berth to starboard with custom mattress, large hanging locker and abundant drawer storage, There are three (3) opening ports and screened overhead hatch. Since the Krogen hull does not have hard chines or spray rails the forward cabin is ideal for those nights at anchor as there is not wave slap and plenty of natural ventilation.

Pilothouse
Going up and forward from the galley / saloon is the raised pilothouse. The centerline helm is well arranged with a proper chart table to port as well as chart storage, good drawer and cabinet storage and Dutch doors port and starboard. There is a raised settee that converts to a double berth. Refreshing natural ventilation is available via the Dutch doors, opening center windshield and two (2) opening port is the aft bulkhead.
