Description: Farr 11.6
"Wise of Time" is a Farr 11.6, perfect for a cruising couple to handle and capable of taking its owners anywhere they wish.

Built by Binks in Adelaide in 1992 the yacht is a solid fibreglass construction of some 45 mm thick along the keel line.

The yacht has a standard ¾ rig with dual swept back spreaders, a baby stay stiffens the mast top and single backstay contains the HF radio antenna. She can carry a spinnaker from the jib junction or from the masthead. The Dacron sails were replaced with radial cut Stealth performance cruise laminate sails from Horizon Sails in December 2006. The main is slab reefed and the headsail is now on a Furlex roller furler, which was fitted in February 2008 to facilitate short handed cruising.

Steering is through a 'destroyer' wheel with solid rod linkages to the stainless steel rudder stock. The ST 6000 Autohelm works directly into the mechanism using a linear actuator. The large sail area plus the direct steering provides a good 'feel' for the yacht under all directions of sail and she is capable of solid and comfortable speeds on all points.

Comes with 2 Magellan GPS units and full Raytheon Navman instrumentation including autopilot.

Internally the interior has warm woodwork rather than the cold white fibreglass of other Farr models. Quarter berths are located in the aft starboard and port sections. The port side is larger and roughly equivalent to a Queen size bed.

There is a top loading deep chest fridge with a freezer compartment a gas 2-burner cook top with griller under. There is provision for dual gas bottles in the rear lazarette. A microwave oven on the shelf above the fridge completes the cooking facilities. This unit may be fed from the 1.4 Kw inverter under the port berth or from shore power, when connected in the lazarette.

To the left of the companion way is another deep chest fridge and freezer compartment the top of which doubles as a chart table. Above this table is the main electrical control panel, VHF and AM/FM radios and engine instruments. The HF radio is forward of this panel in a separate enclosure.

Port and starboard water tanks under the cabin seats hold some 300 litres, dual diesel tanks - one under the starboard seat, the other under the starboard berth hold some 150 litres. 12 volt DC power is provided by 2 large gel-cell battery sets last upgraded in 2012. These batteries may be charged from the engine alternator or via a battery charger from shore power.

The head contains a "Lavac" vacuum toilet that acts as a macerator, hand basin with freshwater and saltwater foot operated taps plus a handheld powered shower.
The keel stepped mast section is alongside the head compartment and therefore is very unobtrusive.

This yacht has undergone an extensive rebuild during 2009 around the keel area of the hull with detailed advice from the Farr Design office in Annapolis, USA. The yacht now has a hull that is considerably stronger than the original and with additional longitudinal floors. Hence she is stiffer and seems to sail even better than before.
