Description: Halvorsen Prince Class
Designed by Archie Barber in 1925 for the Prince Alfred Yacht Club, the Prince Class yacht was intended for both racing and cruising. By 1926 several yachts had been constructed, racing regularly on Pittwater and cruising between Pittwater and Sydney Harbour. Known as the "Doctors' Boats", due to the profession of most owners, the Prince Class yacht boasted clean, sweeping lines with comfortable, cruising quarters and generous gaf rigged sail plans.

Scarab was the 2nd Prince Class yacht constructed by Lars and Harald Halvorsen and is believed to be the oldest surviving vessel from this iconic shipwright. Purchased by her current owner in 2001, she underwent a complete restoration over the following 2 years. This project, headed by Simon Sadubin with assistance from Paul Sunnucks was carried out at Woolwich Marina, left no stone unturned in restoring her to original glory.

While Scarab reflects her original design and build, some modernisations have been made including the fitting of an electric Lynch (LMC) 24V marine motor with Solarboat Electric Drive for silent propulsion, solar system with Plasmatronic controller, 1800W 240V inverter and microwave. Scarab will suit enthusiasts and lovers of fine craftsmanship. She's perfect for day sailing or picnics on the bay and will draw admiration whenever she sails.

A comprehensive brochure detailing her history and restoration works is available to qualified purchasers. Please contact our Sydney office on 9969 2144 or email sales@yachtsalesaustralia. Com for more information or to arrange an inspection.
