Description: Islander 36 Encumbrance Check?
Up for sale is a beautifully restored American Built Islander 36 that is fully equipped and ready to take you anywhere. The Alan Gurney designed Islander 36 is a proven cruising boat with an impressive turn of speed. Prior to Jessica Watson, the youngest person to sail around the world alone and unassisted was the American, Zac Sunderland, whose boat of choice was an Islander 36. This yacht has had a keel up restoration in 2012 and presents in gleaming condition, often attracting compliments from admiring yachties.

The restoration included;
A full peel and high build epoxy osmosis treatment
Removal of mast and all hardware from the hull and deck including hatches, windows and toe rails
Reseal of the hull/deck joint
Full refinish of the hull and deck in two pack polyurethane
New windows and hatches from the original manufacturer were installed
All deck hardware serviced or replaced as required and resealed
Headliner and carpet in cabin replaced
Interior woodwork re-oiled
Mast and boom re-painted
Mast steps re-riveted

Accommodation
Down below is accessed through a walk in entry and walk down steps, no climbing and with plenty of headroom. It is dry and due to 20 mm foam insulation being installed when the headliner was replaced, is warm in winter and cool in summer with no condensation. The fitout is solid teak timber work and is of high quality. The rich dark timber is in excellent condition and goes beautifully with the colourful carpet creating a very cosy feel. Apart from the walk in entry, the Islander 36 has another design feature that set them apart from other yachts, a completely fold away table which creates a large space when stowed and a feeling that the boat is bigger than 36 feet
