Confidence at Sea
The Herley Commander was designed from the hull up. The hull was conceived from years of experience out at sea, combining traditional displacement methods and proven hull shapes we have completely re-developed what is usually considered inside New Zealand as a fast-planning hull. With 60 degrees of entry at the bow, we split the force of a wave before it arrives at your feet. And with a relatively flat aft area she is both stable under way and at rest. We provide a hull that you can rely on getting home safely and comfortably in when the weather turns rough.
As a side effect of the Herley hull and combination with the wheelhouse design the Commander delivers superior interior space for a vessel of her size. The plumb bow brings extra cabin space up forward, and the absence of an anchor well increases this further. Inside the wheelhouse the helm position is not forced further aft into the boat due to pilot house windows, and creates a spacious interior flow. Overall these design elements allow the Commander to still maintain a very large working area within the cockpit.
Clean lines, and practical solutions are the key to a Herley boats cockpit. Featuring systems like our flip seats, hinged storage bins, and unique bait board that reclaims the space of the outboard well. We keep your cockpit a tidy area to work in.
Commercial practicality brings you an uninterrupted view from the helm. Not Only do you get great visibility, but the windscreen design also provides you with, zero dash glare during the day, no instrument glare at night, and when sea spray hits the screen it simply falls away rather than slowly running down.
The Commander interior can be customized to suit your style of boating. From a day cruise with the family, a big fishing weekend, or a purpose weekender with overnight capabilities. We will build the boat that suits you.
K. I. S. S.
A design principle noted by the U. S. Navy in 1960. The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple. This has been applied to all aspects of the Herley Boats, For example we like to keep penetrations into the boat kept to a minimum, our hand rails are machined and then fully welded to our structure, no holes and bolts to cause leaks and electrolysis further into the life of the vessel.
