Hire and drive
Recreational customers can hire a boat on a trailer and launch it from anywhere in the Townsville region. The top locations are bay-hopping Magnetic Island or exploring and crabbing the local creek systems. There are boats available to suit those with and without a Recreational Marine Drivers Licence. See all boats here:

Custom private tours
For those preferring to sit back and relax, recreational customers can be treated to their very own custom private tour on the pontoon boat. There are currently three standard options to make choosing easier (Magnetic Island Adventure, Creek-cruising Safari and Sunset Tours), but Townsville Boat Hire has tailored special adventures for everything from hen's do's, fishing days, and work get-togethers to heartfelt experiences for small family groups. The pontoon boat is ideal as it's spacious and stable. More info about the custom tours here:

Commercial clients have taken Townsville Boat Hire's commercially-compliant boats all over the region for a range of commercial work, from acting as safety vessels to assisting with infrastructure inspections, to everything in-between. Sometimes these hires can go for extended periods. Hiring a boat is much more cost-effective for businesses than investing in their own and needing to keep up with maintenance.
Townsville Boat Hire also offers commercial clients the option of having an experienced skipper, which is a popular option, especially for jobs that require local knowledge. The skipper requires a Coxswain qualification. We usually undertake this role, or enlist a trusted contractor skipper.

Townsville Boat Hire is the Townsville region's only recreational and commercial boat hire business. The current owners purchased the business in 2014 as Mudpickers Boat Hire and have since rebranded it, expanded the fleet, and built up the commercial client base. Townsville Boat Hire now has a diverse and established customer network and service offering with seven vessels to suit a range of needs.
PLANT, EQUIPMENT, PERMIT AND OTHER PERKS
See the full plant and equipment list for details, but Townsville Boat Hire has seven boats on trailers and everything you need to hit the ground running - from all the safety gear and safety management systems, to Marine Parks permits and 4.5-star reviews!
The newest developments include a Maritime Safety Queensland-approved mooring at Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island, for commercial operation. The owners are also working through approvals from Townsville City Council to gain permission for the business tooperate from Horseshoe Bay. While there are already-established boat tour businesses, the island currently does not offer boats for hire. This is an exciting opportunity as it is an extremely busy location, particularly for families in the school holidays. This also allows for the possibility of having half the boats based on Magnetic Island and the other half on themainland to continue servicing commercial clients.
REASON FOR SELLING
The owners have loved having Townsville Boat Hire since they purchased it in 2014 andwas a dream come true for Troy, who has been on boats since being a child, including working as a commercial fisherman. However, Troy and Carly have found it increasingly difficult to give TBH the time it needs due to other commitments, including having aperiod of time when they left Townsville and attempted to run it remotely. The futureholds new adventures and career directions for both, so it's time to pass the baton and see someone take it to the next level.
