Description: Purdon & Featherstone : Cartela - Historic River Steamer Encumbrance Check?
Cartela is an historic Australian vessel (HV000237) in need of restoration. She has operated in Tasmanian waters for over 100 years and is fondly remembered by many locals and tourists alike.

Investors and tourism operators are invited to discuss options for this important heritage vessel.

Cartela is sound, however due for restoration befitting a boat of her age and character.

The Cartela was built in 1912 at Battery Point, Hobart, by Purdon & Featherstone for the Huon Channel and Peninsula Steamship Company Pty. Ltd. She was designed to operate as a cargo and passenger vessel in the coastal and riverine trades south and south-east of the city. The Cartela was specially designed to be the fastest vessel in the premier excursion trade.

Cartela is currently powered by a 6-cylinder Caterpillar diesel engine, producing 365 horsepower (272 kW) (@ 1800RPM). See startup video.

The original Plenty and Sons triple expansion steam engine is included. Although substantially rebuilt, more work is needed.

Included are plans and technical drawings for the vessel.

The sale also includes 'Goliath', a 39m steel barge suitable as a dry dock for Cartela.

Memorabilia to be negotiated with a purchaser intending to restore Cartela.
