Description: Wellcraft 2800 Martinique Encumbrance Check?
The 2001 Wellcraft 2800 Martinique shares the same hull design as the Riviera M290 (as the Gold Coast Riviera Group built both brands and exported the wellcraft to the USA). As such, the build quality and features of the Wellcraft 2800 Martinique are excellent, with careful consideration going into every aspect of these vessels. The modified-V hull with moderate beam is constructed of hand laid fiberglass (no timber), bonded and through-bolted to a foam-cored deck. These vessels are known for their superb handling and excellent sea keeping abilities, enabling safe and surefooted navigation throughout the Gold Coast waterways and beyond. Production of these vessels lasted only two years, before the hull design was on-sold and became the larson Cabrio 290. Check out this Boatsales review of the Riviera M290 for an independent review of the handling characteristics of the hull. Https://www. Boatsales. Com. Au/editorial/details/riviera-290-9260/ . The Wellcraft efficient midcabin floorplan, is setup for six berths (realistically only one on the drop down table, therefore five berth in the cabin), enclosed head (Vacuflush toilet with holding tank), handheld hot/cold shower and standing headroom in the main cabin. The compact galley has a metho/electric cooktop, microwave oven, 12V fridge, large storage cupboards, pantry and cutlery/utensils drawers. The Wellcraft 2800 Martinique differs in a few design aspects from the Riviera M290 (some good, some not so good), but one huge benefit over the Riviera, is the sensible mid cabin berth entry, which allows ample access to the large sleeping area underfloor.

The cockpit features include; doublewide helm, U-shaped aft seating that converts into a sun pad (good enough for sleeping if person not too large), ample storage, drink holders, an esky, tilt steering wheel and a walk-through windscreen. There are entry lights (on switch at the transom door), an electric hatch provides easy access to the engine compartment (sporting a well maintained 375HP Volvo Penta), a hot and cold transom shower, extended swimming platform, fishing rod holders, (with cutting board), stern rail and tender mounting points (tender included). There is also a 180watt permanently mounted solar panel with CTEK D250 / smartpass charging system (with 20Amp smart charger)

This boat has served us well over the last four years, and even though it is in the process of having the electrics changed from 120v to 240v, it still gets used very regularly (whilst this changeover is underway), about every two months or so for a lazy family weekend. The state of the changeover is such that there is a new Australian built marine pure sine wave 1500W (3000W surge) inverter, 240v microwave, some other necessary components purchased i. E. Shore/inverter changeover switch, RCD (safety switch), enclosure and reverse polarity C/B. As I am an electrician, the plan was to complete the project and then get it certified, however, I just cannot find the time (other commitments). Other areas which need a tidy-up are; the front clears require replacement, the cabin carpet and cockpit seats require cleaning and the boat needs a good polish. I will chip away on these items until sold. Currently she sits on a well-constructed ramp trailer (out of the water) in the Jacobs Well area and gets launched and retrieved by tractor.

The wellcraft 2800 Martinique is a spacious, practical, well thought out and well equipped boat. If you are in the market for a sub-30-foot family cruiser, this is certainly worth a look.

This well equipped vessel also has:
Full covers including bimini top, clears and rear enclosure
Stainless tender rail on swim platform
Garmin Sounder and GPS combo (Echomap Chirp 75DV Chart Plotter) with BlueChart g2 Vision, East Coast Of Australia
Two house batteries (and one starter)
