Immaculate Blue water cruiser that can give a turn of speed due to it's racing pedigree. She was designed by German Frers and built in the CNB boatyard by Beneteau. This is no production boat, the build standard can be seen and felt as soon as you step aboard. She started life competing in many races around the US Great Lakes region with much success. Her sister-ship "La Poste" competed in the 1989 Whitbread Round the World Race, winning one of the legs!
In the 1990's she was upgraded to become a beautifully prepared serious blue water cruising yacht. She has extensively cruised the Pacific and Alaska as well as many other places. She was then taken to Western Australia where over an 18 month period she underwent a no expense spared major refit. Even though she was originally built in 1987 after this refit she was all but a new boat in 2009. The attention to detail has to be seen to be fully appreciated! It's in first class condition and has had significant money spent over the last 5 months so there's absolutely nothing to do! She's totally ready for your next adventure!

The traditional timber fit out is in a word "stunning"! The saloon is is a huge comfortable and warm space, with seating around the dinette for 8 in comfort. The galley is a very smart design, laid out for food prep both under way and at anchor. You have a 3 burner stove with oven and grill, 2 bowl stainless steel sinks with hot and cold water, and a large top loading fridge. The "owners cabin" aft has a huge king sized bed, a small lounge for reading or just relaxing, as well as private access to the bathroom. Ahead there are a pair of twin bunk rooms. Each bunk has a lee cloth to keep crew secure. In the bow there's a huge storage space called "The Garage" which includes a small workshop. The Nav station is incredibly well set out with the traditional chart table and electronics will impress even the most discerning yachtsman. To keep you warm, She's fitted with ducted heating that can be controlled separately in the Owners cabin, main saloon, the bathroom and both of the forward cabins, to keep crew comfortable in any weather.

Her speed and power is evident as a result of her racing heritage, but she's been incredibly well set up to be managed short handed. With the genoa and Staysail both on easy to manage furlers (From the cockpit), 3 speed Lewmar primary winches, electric halyard winch, over-size rope clutches, a fantastic lazy jack system and the simple reefing system for the mainsail. She has great vision from the twin wheels steering, and the crew are kept very comfortable in the spacious and comfortable cruising cockpit complete with cushions. The "stepped bridge deck" becomes a great spot under the dodger to keep warm and dry while keeping control with one of the the remote controls for the autopilot. Or just keeping watch while using the incredibly well engineered Monitor wind vane steering for those long passages.
Katmai is powered by a Perkins 80hp Diesel in excellent condition with all round access making servicing etc very easy.

The inventory of sails, equipment and spares is extensive and you would not find a better prepared boat for blue water cruising. In March 2021 She has had her hull hand scraped back to remove all antifoul, completely faired and has had new epoxy primer, tac coat and 3 coats of antifoul spayed on. The Carbon fibre rudder has been rebuilt, new stainless stock machined and fitted for the emergency steering and all new seals and bearings, so it's a dream to steer with fingertip control. The hydraulics system (for the backstay, baby stay & Vang) has been fully rebuilt. A new alternator and been fitten to the main engine, and the fuel system has been fully serviced.
