$270,000 - RARE OPPORTUNITY to purchase my 1990 Brady 43ft (13m x 6.7m) handcrafted sailing catamaran 'Centurion' named by the builder. This was the first commissioned sailing catamaran built by Peter Brady in Queensland. There are very few sailing boats like Centurion. We have loved living aboard since 2013 (3rd owner) and have spent many hours and dollars (over $100k) on upgrades since purchase, including all rigging and safely lines, Genoa and staysail, electronics (Raymarine e180 touch screen navigation, radar, autopilot, all-round tv antenna, etc), 3000watt enerdrive ePRO inverter/charger combo all in 2013-2014. In 2019 we replaced the port side engine (47hp Isuzu diesel inboard) antifouled, painted and redecorated the hulls and installed 6 x new lifeline house batteries and 2x new start up batteries, new solar control panel and battery monitor (there are 4x solar panels and a wind generator).
Unfortunately due to ill health and subsequent recent death of my partner (the reason for selling) there are some jobs yet to be completed or started including replacement of starboard engine (50hp Isuzu diesel - approx $20k incl labour for 47hp as above), some shipwright work (heads, 1 x forward deck hatch, some windows and gas storage compartment) deck needs repainting (deck paint already purchased and onboard)). There are also new curtains and rods ready to hang, and plenty of various spares. Due for antifoul and touch up of hulls (2pac paint onboard).
She is perfect for extensive sailing or living aboard with plenty/heaps of storage (I know as I have a lot of stuff), 2 x queen+ cabins forward (full length hanging space and shelving) and 2 x double cabins aft with room for additional single (potential to sleep 8-10), 2 x heads (needs renovation), galley up with double sink (needs sanding and revarnish), 4 burner gas oven (due for replacement but works ok), huge deep freezer and huge refrigerator built into galley benches, 4-6 seater dinette with under seat storage. Full head height, no ducking required. Extensive interior timber work (no laminate).
She also has dual helms, one inside with direct access to forward deck and rear outside helm. So great all weather sailing. She has mini keels, so can sit on sand at low tide if desired, and high clearance, so not much wave splash. Sails well, average 6-8 knots in 15-18 knot winds. Has Genoa & staysail (pro furler) main sail (reconfigured from in mast electric furling system to manual on boom system with reefing and lazy jacks - could potentially be converted back) and 1 x asymmetrical sail for light winds. 2 x stainless steal self tailing winches. Genoa sheets replaced 2020.
There is also a 3.3m Bermuda tinny/dinghy with 18hp Tohatsu 2 stroke outboard with electric start (separately registered). Fits on swim platform with davits when underway.
So if you want a solid, different, well built timber/epoxy sailing catamaran and you are prepared to give her some TLC to complete our dream of restoration, then look no further. Price is commensurate with work that needs to be done. Full list of work that needs doing will be provided. (2018 survey report can be provided if requested, some work completed since then though). This much loved boat/home needs to be sold as soon as possible. Just want to go home to my family in WA. All reasonable offers will be considered. Purchase, renovate and be ready for next summer cruising. Currently located in Port Stephens NSW.
