Build of cor ten steel alloy. Originally patented by US steel it is up to 40% stronger than mild steel and like aluminium develops a thin coat of oxidisation to prevent rust making it extremely low maintainance and virtual rust free.
Contact for photos and more info. Australian Registered Ship. This is an evolution of the Classic Halvorsen Freya - the famous Sydney to Hobart winning design. Custom built for High Latitude sailing, or for those who value safety and comfort, without sacrificing speed. For remote cruising and long distance passage making, the Hull and the onboard range of over-spec fittings, and a long list of features give you built in redundancy, which make this a proverbial "go anywhere" boat. Fully insulated with excellent ventilation there is no condensation and is as happy in the tropics as the arctic.
With the changing unpredictability of our climate she gives great confidence and peace of mind in handling the ever more present bom storms and micro bursts that are increasingly becoming the norm on longer passages.
The surveyor made the comment that this was the first boat he had examined that he felt could be taken anywhere in the world safely.
Please feel free to visit the website www. Halvorsenfreya. Com for a detailed back story and more photos and videos. Please also visit the Facebook page Halvorsen Freya for comments, reviews, more pictures and to view the long list of features. Many specs listed here too.
This is a unique sailing boat, which rarely finds its way on to the market. This really is the only one in the world, with many fans, from the people who saw Merops being built, to the many who saw her docked in her home port, to Jon Amtrup, "wrote the book" on High Latitude Sailing... The new frontier of sailing. She was built to last forever, and way ahead of her time. Think ice breaker Hull, keel cooling, hand turned stainless steel fittings, and more. This is an Australian registered ship (essential for overseas travel) ON85291.
