'Varg' is a rare and special Eight Metre classic. Designed and built in 1924 by Norwegian, John Anker a highly revered naval architect. Since her re-launch in 2014, the new 'Varg' has been declared by classic timber boat aficionados one of the finest in the world today. She was once ranked as the world's fastest 8-metre, a class that is still raced competitively in Europe. From 1927,'Varg' raced in Australia under the name of "Norn". She was owned for a time by the then Governer-General.
The current owners found her, a broken down shadow of the once great 'Varg'. They could not resist the grace, beauty and power of the lines and purchased her. They commissioned the Wilson Brothers of Southern Tasmania to rebuild her precisely to original specs without regard to cost. The only concession to the 21st century was the employment of the finest of Tasmanian timbers, Huon and Celery Top Pine and the use of modern building materials and equipment. The owners wisely balanced authenticity with practicality. She was re-launched in 2014 and re-christened 'Varg'. The new 'Varg' has been shown to the world, exhibited in wooden boat festivals and has competed in an international 8-metre regatta in Norway, her country of origin.
"Varg's" proud owners have enjoyed sailing/racing this extraordinary thoroughbred and are simply thrilled by her scintillating performance under sail. Sadly, the time has come for them to part with their special beauty. This presents a rare opportunity for you to own this beautiful boat and to experience the joy of owning and the thrill of sailing such a vessel. CALL PAUL 0418 385 866 to arrange an inspection.
