2001 model J-105 yacht for sale. The International J-105 is a fixed keel one design racing sailboat featuring a retractable bowsprit, which allows for a large asymmetric spinnaker. The J-105 is regarded as a fast design with a clean deck layout and was selected as the 1992 "Boat of the Year" in the Racer/Cruiser category by Sailing World Magazine. The concept behind the J-105 line was to produce boats that are fast, strong, fun and easy to sail shorthanded for racing or cruising.
The J-105 has the stability, rig and sail controls to handle 15-20 knot winds without the need of reefing. It has the strength and seaworthiness for oceangoing passages. The J-105 is still raced widely as a One Design yacht and still proves itself as a competitive racer.
This 2001 model has been sailed and raced in Adelaide for the past 15 years and very well maintained with ongoing upgrades. The hull has been sanded back to the epoxy each antifoul providing a clean fast hull. The Volvo 18hp engine has very low hours with a new exhaust elbow and stern tube bearing. NEW standing rigging 2018.
The interior of the J-105 is simple but comfortable for overnight sailing or few days cruising with gas stove, head and enclosed cabin forwards. Plenty of storage is available with open shelves, hanging locker and large cockpit/sail lockers.
The cockpit is spacious for a race crew or family cruising with single wheel steering. A small swim platform is on transom scoop with a swim ladder. A boom tent is also included which provides shade and protection at anchor or in the marina.
This is a sporty well-kept 35 footer that is still a very relevant yacht in today's racer/cruiser market. It offers a good alternative to buyers looking for a Sydney 36, Mumm 30, Beneteau First or J35.
