PROUT 46 REFURBISHED READY FOR WORLD CRUISING  Under Contract

Ever thought of purchasing a sailing catamaran and heading off into the sunset? Well 'Mushroom' may be the answer.

The Prout range of catamarans are a well known English brand designed and built for world bluwater cruising. 'Mushroom' was launched in 1999 in the UK and somewhere along the way she was sailed south and made it to Queensland where her current owner purchased her just a few years ago. His dream was to sail the world, so with no expense spared, he refitted, refurbished and renewed almost everything onboard so she would be a safe and reliable vessel for the journey to the Philippines and eventually back to the UK. Unfortunately circumstances have changed so she is now reluctantly for sale.

Currently berthed in her home port of Fremantle Western Australia she was recently antifouled and polished and now turn key and ready to set sail.

Accompanied with her original owners manuals and all receipts for works carried out over the last five years, her history is an open book.

Custom stainless steel upgrades has seen higher than normal safety rails replace the standard braided wire, the tender davit system designed for quick and effortless launch and retrieval. All halyards and sheets return to the cockpit so almost everything can be trimmed and set without venturing on deck. Harken two speed electric winches massivley reduce the effort rquired to sail the boat. With the mast located close to the helm, her sail power comes from the staysail and genoa while a marginal main provides extra boost without obstructing wind to the headsails.

The galley features many new appliances and I have to say, I have never seen so many storage cupboards on a boat before! Even if you didn't raised her sails, you could comfortably live on a Prout 46.

With massive fuel storage, I'm told there is enough diesel to steam for up to ten days under power. With under 100 hours on the Yanmar 54HP engines they have plenty of life left, in fact they are barely run in.

Another stand out for me is the strength of the rig. Double shrouds and aft stays provide additional mast support and security for those long offshore journeys.
