Description: Roberts 58 Cutter-rigged ketch
Beautiful Roberts 58 cutter rigged ketch, a classic, safe, sea-friendly yacht that will take you anywhere.
In 1994, renowned Australian cartoonist, Larry Pickering commissioned a Newcastle ship yard to build him an 18 metre blue-water cruising ketch. As befitting someone of his means, Larry spared no expense in the construction of this timeless Bruce Roberts classic vessel.
Using professional craftsmen to build her and only the finest materials - solid teak,  quality fittings, and of course the best steel and coatings, standards of comfort, safety and reliability were superb.
This quality remains today,  providing a sea friendly vessel that can take you around the world, to the poles,  or just away for the weekend in comfort and safety.  Over the years she has cruised extensively in the Pacific, Bass Strait and throughout Australia, recently returning from a seven month voyage up the West coast to the Montebello Islands.
Over time this beautiful girl has been enjoyed by a select group of owners.  One being a well-respected Marine Surveyor of many years standing. He stated, 'she was the best vessel of her class I ever surveyed', only parting with her due to long-term serious illness.
The present owners had a professional skipper deliver her across the Great Australian Bight during winter. Having experienced sailing at the poles,  in all manner of challenging conditions, his comments upon arrival were,  'I would sail this vessel anywhere in the world, including the Poles. '
"Truly Madly Deeply" (TMD) is a large volume vessel, designed and built to comfortably cross oceans or handle challenging conditions. With a beam of 5.3 metres and a low centre of gravity, she is a very sea-kindly vessel. Her draught of 2.4 metres allows a significant portion of ballast to be deep, resulting in a stable vessel, suited for all conditions the skipper wishes to tackle.
TMD has always been well maintained, with significant improvements consistently made throughout.  She is now boasting state of the art solar and water making systems, in addition to a new mainsail, new anchor and new chain.
This vessel is a one-off, timeless classic that will safely fulfil your cruising dreams. Contact Don on  +61 (0)400 974 683 for more information.
