2000 Simpson 14.2m Catamaran | Sound Wave
Sound Wave is a solidly constructed, capable and proven 46ft ocean cruising catamaran. Built in Melbourne in 2000 of strong, composite materials (Western red cedar / epoxy). She features a practical design and basic fit out.
This Simpson 14.2 has a simple yet highly functional layout with three generous cabins, large double/queen beds and ample storage. The two forward central cabins enjoy excellent headroom, great ventilation and air conditioning, while the large aft cabin also has plenty of space and room to stow gear. A roomy bathroom features a separate shower area which also accommodates the washing machine and water maker.
The generous saloon has a large lounge and dining table and enjoys great ventilation as well as the comfort of air conditioning. The galley down is located on the starboard side and is fitted with a good refrigeration unit with twin door access, a pantry area and abundance of storage for extended cruising.
Sound Wave has a roomy cockpit with a fixed hardtop that houses the solar panels, and the helm station affords excellent views to all angles and has access to two electric winches for the halyard and headsail sheeting. The catamaran is very easy to sail shorthanded with all lines returning to the helm.
The davits on the aft hold an alloy tinnie and new Honda outboard, which is ideal for exploring inlets and reef areas. Relaxing on the sizeable foredeck is a joy courtesy of the new trampolines while there is plenty of dry storage around the decks for gear and sails.
