S & S 34 MARK 1 (SHORT RIG)
During winter 2014 this vessel was fitted at Emu Point Slipway, Albany, with new standing and running rigging, sails, new Barlow winches, Wind Pilot, AIS unit and new electrical systems, and inventory. The ocean voyage from Albany to South Australia was completed in Summer of 2014.
It was inspected by Emu Point Shipwrights on the 29th October 2014. Survey Comments in part are:
"The hull is moulded of glass reinforced plastic, and consists of mat and woven roving. The hull thickness varies from gunwale to the centre-line where it is much Heavier. GRP floors are fitted as stiffening webs, to spread the ballast loads into the hull. The bulkheads are bonded to the hull and to the deck for additional stiffening. All glassed construction is to Lloyd's specification for yachts. This vessel has been reasonably maintained.
No sign of galvanic or electrolytic corrosion
No signs of any delamination, or osmosis
The vessel as sighted was found to be structurally sound"
