Description: Mashford 36 Performance Cruiser or Liveaboard Expedition Yacht
Chris Mashford has a reputation for building solid, dependable boats and this model is no exception. She measures 35ft at the waterline (excludes prodder) but has had her cockpit and stern professionally extended (by Noakes, Newcastle) to offer greater cockpit space and an open transom.
Her current owner has owned the yacht since 2004 and he completed an extensive re-fit during 2015-2016. He has enjoyed mostly coastal cruising with friends and enjoys the space, stability, and comfort that Dispatch Rider offers to crew while also easily sailed single handed. There is ample room for guests to enjoy sailing without having to heel over and the headroom below is more accommodating than the average monohull. "I enjoy sailing her by myself as it's a very simple and un-complicated boat to sail single handed. "
Dispatch Rider would be a great boat for a group of adventurers equipped with dive gear, surfboards or even a group of kitesurfers. She would also suit a more novice sailor or young family. Her main hull offers a lot of room with accommodation below for several crew with a double and three single berths, an electric flushing toilet, galley and pressurised water.
Dispatch Rider is powered by twin Yamaha 9.9 4-stroke outboard motors - both just a few years old which are easily lowered and raised to and from the water. Her rudder is also retractable so when it and the centre board are raised, the vessel can be beached easily. (This would be very advantageous if cruising the coral reefs of Northern Queensland. )
Navigation equipment includes a Raymarine tiller autohelm, VHF, Wind, speed and depth instruments. The vessel offers excellent protection from the weather with a hard top and awning fitted over the cockpit with sky lights which keep you in touch with rig when sailing. Auxillary power can be sourced from an 80w solar panel mounted on the roof - with ample room to add more if needed. Her batteries were upgraded in 2018 and there is also a powerful 1500w inverter.
Dispatch Rider's sail wardrobe includes a fully battened main, furling Genoa, screecher, storm jib and asymmetric kite (pink) which can be deployed using a sock as pictured in the photos and sailing video. Her dyneema rigging was replaced in 2015, with new forestay and running rigging in 2020. All lines lead aft through neat deck organisers to clutches and winches accessible to port and starboard on the coach roof.
Sailing this yacht is simple, fun and exhilarating while also very comfortable with great visibility and scope to travel on coastal pasages. She is in top condition and will impress anyone who sets foot aboard. You can watch her in action in the sailing video linked in photos and for a full inventory, and more information contact Sonia Robinson of EziYacht Brokerage to arrange a viewing in Pittwater.

Vessel is in excellent condition and presents immaculately. Well built, well maintained and fun to sail. Second owner. Modernised stems. Previous owner helped Mashford build the boat (also a boat builder) and raced and won some offshore series in Qld. Noakes of Newcastle extended the cockpit and doubled its size for the current owner. They fit a transom hung rudder and fitted a port engine pod to match the stbd one. They also fit a sliding hatch to replace the cubby hole companionway. Lovetts Bay Shipwrights later fitted a solid cockpit roof and widened the double bunk - in 2010. In 2013-2014 a new 'Schionning' stern section was added, coppercoat applied at Elvina Bay (Robbie Clarke).
