Large 72' Powercat, New Build Genration 3 Powerplay 72, Each Powerplay represents an evolution in development, arrangements and systems. Each arrangement has been customized to its owner’s specific requirements, taste and budget.
The latest 72’ design takes our experience to a new level in luxury and space. Extended length, higher freeboard and wider body lower hulls while maintaining a slender hull efficiency allows for a larger cabin area, wider floors and private ensuites in each cabin. The curvaceous designs for which Powerplay is synonymous are retained and enhanced by striking form, modern ship design and up-to-date systems. It is a real head-turner, always inviting a second and third look!
Powerplay Catamarans was established in 2000 in Townsville, North Queensland The owner of Power Play have been building boats for more than 30 years and has won numerous awards for his designs and boat building skills. His design was inspired by a noticeable need in the market place for well-designed efficient powered catamarans. Owners of sailing cats generally motor while cruising. Costs of rigs and sails can provide a lifetime of fuel. A well-designed Powered cat can reach its destination faster and free from the restrictions imposed wind conditions.
Over the course of seven years, seven boats ranging in size from 12.5 to 17 meters were built. Four of these boats were exported to the Florida USA, Casa de Campo Dominican Republic and Saint Marrten in the Caribbean. Two Powerplays are in charter cruising the beautiful coast of Queensland. Hull 7 is now located in Perth WA and regularly cruises the Kimberlys. During this time, Power Catamarans at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show and was also rewarded with two “Emerging Export Awards”, as well as an Excellence in Manufacturing award from the Queensland Government.
In 2010, Powerplay relocated the business to Zhuhai China to streamline production and reduce overheads. Powerplay Catamarans became Powerplay International, and within six months of establishing this new factory, the company had four orders for the new 18-meter Powered Catamaran. The factory is operating smoothly, and has proven to be a smart move, with the output being a high quality finish and a more affordable boat.
