Buying a share in a Boat
When you buy a boat with Yachting Directions, you buy a quarter share. This means that you share the cost of boat ownership with a few others, but you likely enjoy your boat just as often as if you were the full owner. (Boats owned exclusively by one owner often sit on the water for prolonged periods and depreciate from lack of use). They don't get cleaned or maintained. With shared boat ownership you share the costs of the storage and maintenance, making boat ownership less expensive and more enjoyable. You also get the option of a concierge service if you would like the full luxury experience.
Why we prefer dry storage for your boat.
Sun fades your gelcoat, your rubber pontoons, ropes age, and rain and dew can deteriorate most parts of your boat. We take your boat out of the water and store it safely undercover to keep it in premium condition.
Full concierge service
The full concierge experience is also available to you if you would like to engage our team to deliver the boat to you. Sound like a luxury? It is. We can take care of every part of the process so you can simply enjoy your time on the water. Talk to us about including this as an additional service.
Your training and boat license.
When you buy a share in a boat with us you receive free training included in your package. Your training is RYA Powerboat Level 2. You then sit for your NSW boat license, often in the space of one day.

Yachting Directions boat share
How it works
Step 1
Purchasing your share. This step includes your training and your license for the first year. There is no cost for training. Your training takes place at RYA recognised training centre. Your Lomac 540 RIB is always located at Akuna Bay, near the Hwkesbury River.
Step 2
Management fee per share
What it covers:
Storage: Each share buyer pays $20 per week ($1040 per year) for storage.
Maintenance: After each use the boat, the trailer and the engine are washed down with fresh water. Then dried. Parts are then sprayed with Lanox. The boat is checked for damage. This is a $60 per use charge.
Maintenance and repairs are charged at $120 per hour.
The engine is serviced every year. This is budgeted to cost $850 per standard service. So a cost per share
less than $250 is expected.
Registration: Boat registration fees are approximately $120 per year, or $30 per share
Insurance: Insurance is currently $960 per year, so a cost per share should be less than $250
Management: This represents the booking structure, administration, liaising with shareholders and contractors. It is envisaged to be approximately $1200 per year per shareholder.
Concierge Service: This is an additional extra that can be integrated into your package.
