50 years of Dehler pedigree combined with precise hydrodynamic research by designers Judel/Vrolijk & Co and state of the art production techniques perfected by the Hanse Group are proving to be a winning formula. The Dehler 38 has won multiple international awards and it's no great surprise that her new big sister the Dehler 46 has now been nominated for European Yacht of the Year. Use of vacuum infusion, advanced materials, composite bulkheads, a carbon cage, sufficient tankage, easy performance upgrades and smart interior solutions are clearly delivering the benefits demanding sailors are looking for.
New pictures released from Germany show off the elegant lines of the new 46 as the test crew put the boat through her paces. The Dehler 46 is fast thanks to the Judel/Vrolijk & Co optimised hull, performance deck gear, composite bow sprit, lightweight construction and large sail area. The carbon cage bottom structure results in increased stiffness allowing the 46 to carry more load from the large rig. Carbon reinforcements integrated into the GRP bottom structure deliver a light boat with improved overall strength and superb bonding between the hull and keel. Composite bulkheads also save weight while increasing strength.
While designing for speed the Judel/Vrolijk & Co also added functional features like the large bathing platform with integrated boarding ladder, sliding chart table, large hull windows and the Uni-door head solution. There are also new innovative features like a composite sail locker bulkhead with integrated steps, an elegant cockpit table with retractable leaves and plotter pods integrated into the coamings.
5 Dehler 38’s are on their way to Australia and New Zealand to enjoy racing and cruising Downunder this year. The first Dehler 46 will be here in 2015.
