The all-new Beneteau Oceanis 47 (Gen 8 model) is designed for sailors who want a yacht that feels easy to live with, comfortable at anchor, and genuinely enjoyable under sail. It brings together modern cruising design with practical onboard usability, making it well suited to Australian conditions, whether that's coastal cruising, island hopping, or extended time aboard.
At its core, this is a yacht built around how people actually use their boats today, relaxed mooring, social time on deck, and simple handling without losing the feeling of sailing.
Exterior
On deck, the Oceanis 47 is defined by its wide, well-balanced proportions and generous cockpit space. The hull form carries its beam aft, which translates into a cockpit that feels more like an outdoor living area than a traditional sailing workspace.
The layout has been designed around ease of movement and comfort at anchor as much as underway. The L-shaped cockpit provides clear circulation, while twin helm stations keep the cockpit open and social. A key feature is the modular table systems, which can be adjusted between dining height and lounge configurations, or converted into sunbeds, allowing the space to shift naturally between sailing and relaxation.
At the stern, the drop-down swim platform extends the usable space right to the water, making swimming, dinghy access and water sports straightforward. Beneteau's design focus here is on removing barriers between the boat and the water, which suits the Australian cruising lifestyle perfectly.
When configured for cruising, the deck layout can also be enclosed for added safety and comfort, particularly useful for family sailing or longer passages.
Interior
Below deck, the focus is on light, space and practicality. Large hull windows and overhead hatches bring in plenty of natural light, giving the saloon an open and welcoming feel. The design is clean and modern, with quality finishes that feel durable and well suited to real cruising life.
The saloon provides a comfortable central space for dining and relaxing, with a well-planned galley positioned for easy use whether underway or at anchor. Storage is thoughtfully integrated throughout, making longer stays onboard practical and uncluttered.
The cabins are well proportioned and designed for comfort at sea, not just marina stays. The forward owner's cabin offers a generous double berth, good headroom, natural light and practical storage, creating a private and comfortable retreat for extended time onboard. Depending on layout, aft guest cabins provide equally functional accommodation with proper berths, ventilation and easy access to shared facilities.
The Oceanis 47 is typically configured with two bathrooms (heads) in most cruising layouts, offering practical separation between owner and guest accommodation and making extended time onboard far more comfortable.
Sailing
The Oceanis 47 is built to be straightforward to sail, even with a small crew. The standard setup is designed around ease of handling, with furling systems and a self-tacking jib option available to simplify sail management and reduce workload.
On the water, the boat feels stable and predictable, with a hull shape designed to balance comfort and performance across a wide range of conditions. It is not a high-strung performance yacht, instead, it focuses on confidence, control and ease of use, which is exactly what makes it well suited to cruising in any Australian waters.
For owners wanting more performance, optional sail configurations are available to increase sail area and responsiveness, giving flexibility depending on how the boat is intended to be used.
