This is a unique opportunity to purchase a dual entry fishing vessel capable of fishing all
year round. The vessel is being sold as a going concern with the sale including everything
that is necessary for the continued operation of the vessel. The vessel is currently fishing
in the NPF and will continue to fish until the date of sale.
Built by Australian Shipbuilding Industries (ASI) in Fremantle in 1978, the Perpetua has
stood the test of time. Continuously operating in both the Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF)
and East Coast Trawl Fishery since construction the vessel continues to prove itself as a
successful operation.
The Perpetua has a current AMSA Certificate of Operation and a current AMSA Certificate
of Survey USL 3B and is certified to carry 8 crew. The survey certificate is in force until the
18th January 2027.
The Perpetua sale can include a primary commercial T1 fishing license for the East Coast
Trawl Fishery by negotiation, and a long-term lease opportunity of an NPF Licence if required. The option
to also purchase a Kimberly Prawn License and Regional Effort Units for the East Coast
Trawl Fishery also exists.
The Perpetua has been well maintained by the current owners with many beneficial
upgrades over the years. The vessel is powered by a 3412 Caterpillar main engine (Fully
rebuilt in 2019) and a 3406 CAT Auxilary (New 2019). The MG-518-1 gear box was rebuilt by
Twin Disc in 2019 and has a 5.92:1 reduction. The shaft and rudder were both removed,
inspected, and repaired during the 2022 refit.
The communication system has been upgraded to best in class in 2022 with the
installation of a Intellian v60E VSAT system combined with a Satcom Global Aura service
package. Many of the other electronics have also been upgraded in 2022 including a new
FAR-1523-BB Marine Radar, a new FCV-1150 Furuno Sounder and new transducers (Furuno
50/200 1kW, 200B-8B and 50B-9B). In addition two new custom PCs have been installed to
run the latest TimeZero Professional, TimeZero Furuno Sounder Module and C-Plot
programs. The vessel is also equipped with a new AIS Transceiver Class B.
The refrigeration system is extensive with a new 75kW Screw Compressor and Variable
Speed Drive (VSD). The main freezer holds 30 tonne of frozen product combined with 2 x
1.5T hydraulic plate deck snaps and a new 3.5 tonne aluminium plate blast freezer in the
hold. A new stainless steel condenser was also installed in 2022.
The vessel had a complete blast and repaint by GT MAC Industries at The Yard in Brisbane
in 2018, with the topsides now showing general wear and tear. The bottom was cleaned
and painted in January 2022.
The Perpetua is one of the largest vessels allowed to operate on the East Coast at 21.8m
and with a fuel capacity of 38,000l the options for a business model around this vessel are endless.
