"The Entertainer" - Big Volume, Big Fun, Big Value!
I bought this boat approximately 15 years ago from Geelong in Victoria. The motors had been rebuilt from the Cummins factory in Victoria with 150 hours on them. They now have 980 hours. It came with a load of receipts of work done on the boat. I had it checked out with a Cummins factory trained mechanic which included analysis of oil samples. They are Cummins VT903M 450HP.
There is an Onan 12KVA generator which I seldom use as the solar keeps the batteries charged.
The boat has been used regularly in Port Hacking south of Sydney with trips to Sydney Harbour, Pittwater and an occasional trip to Port Stephens.
The boat was originally built to survey which is not current. This is a big volume boat which can carry 25 people hence the name "The Entertainer". This is a cheap entry level boat with lots of life and fun to be had for the new buyer. This would suit a family with so much space, a group of mates who want a big party boat or an offshore fishing boat. The Bertram 42 is an absolute weapon of a boat and will handle any seas with confidence.
It has fishing game poles, a game chair (removed) and a large table for the main cabin which has been removed to open up the space. The saloon area is huge and comfortable and is the go to area on our raft ups with other boats to watch the football or have large dinners with friends and family.
The boat is clean and tidy for its age with upgrades as required. The motors are easy to work on and all service parts easily obtained from Fleetguard or Truckline. The motors are easy to access with plenty of room to move around on both sides of the engines. The lounges can be removed easily and the whole floor opens up for exceptional access as shown in the photos.
There are 400watt solar panels on the roof and 5 x 200amp batteries which are only a few years old. I never plug the boat into shore power as the solar keeps the system charged up.
There is an extra 130amp alternator on one engine together with the other 2 x 130 amp alternators.
It has a eutectic fridge system and freezer which I don't use. The main fridge has a 12v compressor set up with a large cooling plate which can be turned up to freeze if necessary. I run a separate portable Engel freezer. I find this set up is a lot more efficient and you don't need to run the generator for extended periods of time.
I have a salt water flush system where Barnacle Buster or Rydline can be circulated through.
The carpets in the fly bridge, rear deck area, and cabin are fairly new. The clears have been maintained with replacement panels and new zippers as required.
The boat has served our family well but it is time to move it on as it is not being used and we are moving to land based activities travelling with a caravan.
