Classic 29' timber gaff cutter
"Moonbird" is a larger than normal couta boat built by Cayzers in Queenscliff, apparently in the late 40s early 50s (although a 1973 survey indicates construction in 1963). Cayzers are unable to confirm, as their records don't go that far back
Originally an open fishing boat, she was converted for leisure use in the 70s with the addition of a cabin. I bought her in 2008 and embarked on an extensive restoration which included stripping and replacing the interior, replacing the decks and the addition of new cladding over the original cabin structure.
A beautiful classic, Moonbird is a seaworthy boat that has been to Refuge Cove on Wilsons Promontory on several occasions.
