Chris Craft Roamer 40 | Timeless Quality And Style

Some boats date quickly. The Chris-Craft Roamer 40 doesn't.

With her classic lines, strong proportions and unmistakable Chris-Craft styling, she has the kind of timeless presence that still looks right years later. More importantly, the design works exceptionally well on the water.

Wide walkaround side decks make moving from cockpit to bow easy and secure. Forward, there is a large sunbed plus one of the Roamer's best features -- a unique recessed bench seat built into the foredeck. It is a superb place to sit at anchor, away from the cockpit, with a drink in hand as the sun goes down.

Aft, the boat opens up into a large cockpit designed for entertaining. There is plenty of room for guests, overhead shade for protection from the sun, and a substantial swim platform that makes swimming, boarding and time at anchor far more enjoyable.

A permanently mounted gas barbecue completes the setup. Drop anchor, swim off the back, fire up the barbecue and settle in for the afternoon.

The helm is properly protected from the elements while still providing excellent visibility around the boat. Bow thruster and forward chain counter further simplify docking and anchoring, particularly when boating short-handed.

And this is not just a harbour entertainer. The Roamer 40 has the accommodation and onboard systems to stay away comfortably. The galley is capable enough for proper meals rather than basic weekend catering, while the saloon provides a comfortable, practical space to relax indoors.

Forward, the master cabin is light and airy with its own ensuite, giving owners genuine privacy. A second cabin with its own ensuite gives family or guests their own dedicated space as well -- a major advantage when spending several nights aboard.

Air conditioning, generator and watermaker add another level of independence and comfort, making weekends away or coastal cruising considerably easier.

Then there is the way she drives. Beneath the classic styling is a sports-performance hull powered by twin Volvo Penta TAMD75P diesels on direct shafts. It gives the Roamer a useful combination of performance, confidence and conventional mechanical simplicity. This is a boat that can entertain at anchor one day and cover serious distance the next.

Recent upgrades include new Raymarine i70 instrumentation, Victron battery monitoring and a number of mechanical and preventative maintenance items. More than $60,000 has been spent since January, with invoices available.

There is one cosmetic item to note: sections of the interior lining are lifting in places.

What makes this Roamer stand out is not any one feature. It is the combination:

- Timeless Chris-Craft styling.
- Wide walkaround decks.
- A huge open cockpit.
- Large swim platform.
- Foredeck sunbed and recessed sunset lounge.
- Two cabins with two ensuites.
- Generator, air conditioning and watermaker.
- And a performance hull that makes the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.

It is a proper 40-foot motor yacht built for swimming, entertaining, weekends away and simply enjoying being on the water.
