"A Gentleman's Waterborne Carriage" has been used to describe this unique, classic 118 year old beautifully restored timber cruiser. It has won a number of awards at various boat shows reflecting the calibre of the restoration work. The current owner has been the custodian for the past 18 years and has undertaken the restorations over a period of more than seven years. The boat is only being sold due to the owner relocating to Tasmania. It will break his heart to have to part with what has been his passion for all those years and clearly will only be content to sell the boat to someone who might have a similar interest in beautiful things from a forgotten era.
Only an extended visit to the boat can truly reveal the detail and romantic atmosphere of this trip back in time. A prospective buyer would be advised to avail themselves of the owner's hospitality for an afternoon tea of scones and jam and cream in the sumptuous saloon then a few drinks out on the rear deck over the beautiful counter stern while the sun sets and darkness takes over. Then it would be time to repair back to the wonderful ambience of the old world mood lighting of the saloon and all the period details (too numerous to be listed) admired. The vessel is 46ft LOA with a beam of 9ft 6in and draws 2ft 9in. It is powered by a 50hp Volvo Penta diesel engine with approx. 680 hrs
The forward cabin (master suite) has a huge double bed, TV, brass clock and barometer, and generous head room with a butterfly opening hatch.
Aft of the master suite is the head with shower and electric toilet.
The wheelhouse sits amidships with boarding made easy through full height sliding entrance doors to Port and Starboard and two identical period captain's chairs and a kids bunk bed above.
The magnificently plush saloon sits two steps down from the wheelhouse with a beautiful cedar fold-down table with comfortable seating for 6 or at a squeeze 8. The saloon includes many of the 1906 original immaculately hand-crafted timber cabinetry, cut glass crystal glassware and decanters, complimented by period light fixtures, double glazed opening windows, diesel central heating, luxurious velvet and microfibre soft furnishings, and bespoke "Lotus" logo applied full crockery set for 6 and glass panelled sliding doors leading to the galley.
The recently finished galley has a slide out pantry, slide out rope locker, new 110ltr fridge/freezer, new large oven/grill/cooktop with range hood over, more than 2m of bench space, soft close drawers and cupboards and steps up through a sliding hatch to the extensive rear deck with umbrella and wicker chairs.
The boat sale includes a 'Lotus' liveried enclosed double axle storage trailer and 8' fibreglass dinghy.
