Lead ship of three constructed by Charles Vale Shipyard (ferry builders for NSW Govt), Balmain, Sydney. Laid down 1960, launched 1961. Original Volvo petrol engines removed circa 1972, replaced with Detroit Diesels. Midships deckbeams and upper bullwarks replaced 2011. Cockpit deck rebuild 2014. Original steel fuel tanks removed and replacement industrial plastic main fuel tanks fitted 2015.
