The boat was just a bare hull when purchased. An inspection of the hull was undertaken by Marko Sambraillo from Marko`s Wooden boat in Fremantle WA. His report showed that the vessel hull was in great condition, so the decision was made to recommission the WL2.
Boat builder Steve Ward was commissioned due to his reputation, to restore her. Steve has overseen and built the sailing ship the ENDEAVOUR, AUSTRALIA II and many more wooden vessels to his name.

Twin Perkins 6354 Turbo. 145ph each de-rated to 90hp.
Shaft drives
500 Litre diesel fuel twin tanks.

The WL II rebuild.
The external hull was completely stripped back to bare jarrah planks.
The vessel was completely de-caulked from 3 planks above the water line down to the keel.
Once stripped and de-caulked, 3 coats of ever-dure two pack wood sealer was applied.
Hull was then re-caulked and re-puttied, Top quality Caulking line was ordered in from America,
then 2 under coats and 3 finish coats.
Above the water line caulking was not required to be replaced as it was still in great condition, so only required re puttying.
The transom back board was completely replaced.
The only things that weren't newly installed in the WL2 recommissioning project are the 2 motors and the fridge.
The internal hull was sanded back to original base paint that was still in good condition.
Two primer coats, two under coats and three finish coats were applied.
Coach wheelhouse made from 12mm Marine ply and finish with a fibreglass finish.
All new 12mm M/P decks with fibreglass finish

The electrical wiring is all brand new from the refit.
All engine room battery charging equipment
6 new batteries fitted 2023.

New steering system through out.
All new upholstery and new bed Mattress fitted in 2020.
