Eureka 42 Flybridge SERIOUSLY BUILT. SERIOUSLY CAPABLE.

2008 EUREKA 42 OFFSHORE - PHANTOM
PHANTOM is a rare opportunity to acquire an Australian-designed and built Eureka 42 Offshore, a serious bluewater flybridge cruiser and game fishing platform that was engineered from the outset for Australian offshore conditions.
Hand-built on the Tweed by experienced shipwright Laurie Toms and his team, the Eureka 42 was never conceived as a high-volume production boat. The emphasis was on hull design, strength, serviceability and offshore performance, resulting in a semi-custom 42-footer with engineering and proportions that remain impressive today.
PHANTOM is particularly significant as Hull #1, the first and only Eureka 42 constructed from the original Australian moulds before they were sold and exported to New Zealand.
At 13.30 metres overall with a substantial 4.45-metre beam, the Eureka offers exceptional volume for a boat of this length. Her variable-deadrise hull combines a fine entry and pronounced bow flare with a flatter run aft, providing the balance of soft offshore running, efficiency and stability that the design became known for.
The construction is equally impressive. Solid fibreglass laminate is used below the waterline, with composite-cored topsides, substantial structural bulkheads and heavy-duty running gear including 2¼-inch stainless shafts, four-blade propellers and stainless-steel rudders.

BUILT TO FISH
One of the defining features of the Eureka 42 is its enormous cockpit.
Designed from day one as a genuine offshore sportfishing boat, it provides outstanding working space, high coamings, a transom live bait tank, refrigeration, substantial storage and a large outward-opening marlin door.
Wide side decks provide safe access forward to the substantial foredeck, where PHANTOM carries her tender using a 350kg Davco davit. Ground tackle includes a stainless-steel plough anchor and Muir electric windlass with helm-mounted chain counter.

CATERPILLAR POWER
PHANTOM is powered by twin Caterpillar diesels producing approximately 565HP each, coupled to ZF gearboxes and four-blade propellers.
The engine room is one of the standout areas of the vessel. It is spacious, exceptionally accessible and reflects the Eureka philosophy of designing a boat that can actually be maintained.
The port engine has previously undergone a professional rebuild, while both engines and associated engineering systems have been regularly maintained.
PSS dripless shaft seals, stainless sea strainers, quality fuel filtration, excellent access to pumps and machinery, and clean, dry bilges further demonstrate the quality of the original installation.

EXTENSIVELY REFURBISHED
Importantly, PHANTOM has not simply been preserved since her 2008 launch.
Under her current ownership since 2016, she has undergone substantial refurbishment programs, particularly in 2018 and again during 2022/23.
The electrical system received a comprehensive upgrade including new switchboards, interior lighting, power outlets and associated wiring, complemented by a modern Victron inverter/charging system.
Further upgrades and equipment include a 160L/hr Watermakers Australia desalination system, updated freshwater plumbing, hot-water system, pumps, two Tecma electric heads, air conditioning, refrigeration and numerous mechanical and engineering improvements.
Her underwater hull was also stripped back to gelcoat during the 2022/23 refurbishment before being epoxy coated, primed and antifouled. The February 2026 condition report found no indication of osmosis, delamination, collision or grounding and assessed PHANTOM as being in great condition overall for her age and model.

SERIOUS CRUISING CAPABILITY
With approximately 2,500 litres of fuel and 500 litres of freshwater capacity, the Eureka 42 was designed for considerably more than day boating.
The saloon provides excellent natural light through large surrounding windows, quality timber cabinetry, generous seating and air conditioning. The galley offers excellent storage and practical preparation space, while a substantial utility area beneath houses many of the vessel's upgraded systems with excellent service access.
Accommodation includes an owner's stateroom, additional forward accommodation and two heads, providing genuine capability for extended family cruising or multi-day offshore fishing trips.
Upstairs, the flybridge offers excellent visibility both forward and back into the cockpit, twin helm chairs, Caterpillar engine instrumentation, electronic controls and a comprehensive Simrad navigation package.

AN AUSTRALIAN OFFSHORE BOAT BUILT DIFFERENTLY
When the Eureka 42 was originally reviewed at launch, respected marine journalist David Lockwood praised its engineering, enormous cockpit, offshore hull performance, bridge visibility, accommodation and, importantly, its serviceability.
Nearly two decades later, those attributes remain remarkably relevant.
PHANTOM combines that original Australian-built engineering with significant subsequent investment in her mechanical, electrical and onboard systems.
For the buyer considering a Riviera, Black Watch, Caribbean or similar offshore flybridge cruiser but prepared to look beyond the familiar badge, PHANTOM deserves serious consideration.
She is a rare, heavily upgraded Australian offshore boat with a fascinating pedigree and an excellent example of what can be achieved when a boat is engineered with purpose rather than simply built to a price.
