Alexander Marine Australia are pleased to present the 2017 Fjord 44 Open 'Mischief' to the market as worldwide central agents.
The 2017 Fjord 44 Open 'Mischief' is a striking example of Fjord's distinctive approach to the open motor yacht, combining contemporary European design with an exceptionally versatile layout designed for enjoying life on the water. Fjord was founded in Arendal, Norway in 1960 and was reinvented under Hanse Yachts in 2005 as a design-led open motor yacht marque. The Fjord 44 Open evolved from the award-winning Fjord 40 Open, embracing the bold angular styling and walkaround profile that has become synonymous with the brand. At 13.45m, the Fjord 44 Open combines the freedom of an open day boat with the equipment and cruising capability to comfortably venture further afield.
Stepping aboard 'Mischief', the first impression is of an exceptionally open and uncluttered deck layout designed around outdoor living. A large hydraulic bathing platform provides an impressive boarding area and carries the 2.8m Williams jet tender, which can be launched and retrieved with ease while its integrated boarding steps deploy as the platform lowers. Teak laid decks and capping rails complement the contemporary styling, while the aft deck opens onto a generous sunbed, creating an inviting space for relaxing alongside the water.
Moving forward, the central entertaining area is arranged around a fold-out double table, surrounded by comfortable settees with reversible backrests that can be positioned to face either forward or aft. This versatile arrangement allows the space to transform effortlessly between relaxed cruising, dining and entertaining. Above, an electrically operated extendable Bimini provides shade when required, creating a comfortable alfresco entertaining environment while retaining the open air character that defines the Fjord 44 Open.
Forward of the main entertaining area, the galley is positioned neatly behind the helm and can be completely concealed beneath a lift up glass benchtop when not in use. The galley is equipped with an induction cooktop, sink, Isotherm fridge/freezer, and drawer storage below for cutlery and provisions. Additional refrigeration is conveniently located beneath the aft settees, with two Vitrifrigo drawer fridges positioned to port and starboard, ensuring drinks and refreshments remain close at hand without interrupting the main galley area.
At the helm, 'Mischief' offers a purposeful driving position designed around performance and ease of operation. Dual 19" Raymarine Axiom MFDs provide comprehensive navigation information, complemented by Raymarine radar, autopilot and VHF. Volvo Penta IPS joystick controls and engine instrumentation place the vessel's propulsion and manoeuvring systems directly at the helm, while the full glass windscreen and jet black T-top provide protection from the elements without compromising visibility or the open character of the vessel.
Forward of the helm, a second generously sized sunbed provides another excellent position for enjoying the sunshine while underway or at anchor. Continuing towards the bow, the foredeck leads to the anchor locker where a 16kg/35lb S/S Ultra anchor deploys automatically on 8mm stainless steel chain via a Quick Genius horizontal windlass. A Fusion sound system with dedicated remotes throughout the exterior spaces provides entertainment wherever guests choose to relax.
Below deck, the forward master cabin is a light-filled and inviting space centred around an island berth, with generous overhead lighting and a 43" Samsung TV mounted on the aft bulkhead. To starboard, the spacious day head is particularly well appointed for a vessel of this size, featuring a Jabsco electric toilet and a full height separate shower. Positioned aft beneath the wheelhouse, the second cabin is enclosed behind its own door and provides two practical bunks, making it ideal for children or additional guests while also offering secure onboard storage.
Powered by twin Volvo Penta D6 IPS600 engines, each producing 435hp through pod drives, 'Mischief' offers impressive performance and manoeuvrability. 'Mischief' is capable of cruising at 28 knots and reaching speeds approaching 34 knots. Further equipment includes a WhisperPower 4.5KW generator, Sigmar Marine hot water system, Victron 12V/120Amp Battery Charger/3000W Inverter, Victron 12V/50Amp Phoenix Smart Charger and six underwater lights. The sound-insulated engine room is protected by both automatic and manual fire extinguisher systems with dashboard controls.
What sets 'Mischief' apart is the breadth of use offered within her 44 foot footprint. Combining Fjord's unmistakable contemporary styling with a genuine tender carrying hydraulic hi/lo bathing platform, generous sunbeds, flexible entertaining areas and a comprehensive suite of cruising equipment, she is equally suited to relaxed days around the harbour, entertaining at anchor or heading further afield for extended coastal adventures. 'Mischief' represents the Fjord 44 Open concept at its best, delivering an exceptional combination of style, performance, versatility and outdoor living.
