One of only five ever built, Sonya is a true classic. Launched for Mr. Irwin on 19 October 1967, hull number 1255 was originally named Joan by Halvorsen. Crafted as an offshore fishing vessel, Sonya retains much of her original charm, including the distinctive rear roof added by Halvorsen to shield Mr. Irwin's wife from the sun.
Wherever you take her, she's sure to turn heads. This stunning boat is perfect for any Halvorsen or wooden boat enthusiast looking to own a piece of maritime history.
We've had the pleasure of owning Sonya for over 12 years, and she's been exceptionally well cared for throughout. Inside, you'll find the rich, varnished teak cabin, complete with all original fittings.
Major works have been carried out in recent years to ensure she's in top condition. Recent upgrades include:
Rebuilt roof
Complete respray of topsides and roof
Full engine rebuild (only 25 hours since completion)
Custom fuel injection system
Custom stainless-steel exhaust system
New steering system
New sea cocks, hoses, and cooling system
New toilet
New full boat cover
Anti-fouled as of November 2024
