Holmes 51 Motor Cruiser

History/Description... Koorine was first commissioned for Sir Clifton Love ( Uncle Tobys Oats ) founder in 1936, she was built as a luxury cruiser and was commonly known as belonging to the Hollywood fleet. She was totally french polished inside with every conceivable extra of the day. Seconded world war came to Australia and Koorine went into the US Army Small Ships or more commonly known as The Rag Tag Fleet. She was used to ferry supplies to PNG, then returning with the wounded or dead to Australia. Some time after that Koorine was commissioned by the Australian Navy ( HMAS KOORINE ) to help protect home shores. She was fitted with two Vickers machine guns and ten depth chargers making her a formable opponent.
General Remarks... Hydraulic steering just serviced, duel steering stations, new auto pilot,
Aft head is brand new,
Both motors are fitted with alternators, One 12 volt, the other 24 volt,
Jabsco pump is also set up as a bilge pump and an anchor wash,
solar panels on top of fly bridge charge 12volt and 24 volt batteries.
Nav lights are new with strong LED bulbs,
new horn,
Aft Cabins is huge with walk around queen size bed and ensuite including a hip bath.
Cocktail cabinet in saloon and large ice box.
Koorine is also fitted with black / grey water tanks
A varnished restored duck board hangs on the stern with SS chains
This boat is in excellent condition considering it is now Ninety years old, it completed its delivery journey from Gosford NSW to Franklin Tas in November 2022 with out any problems. Hence all the new safety gear fitted.
We are selling do to my health issue, it is priced far lower than it has cost us. Koorine is 90 years old and has got age related marks here and there. If you are exspecting a new plastic finished boat this is not for you, just dont want to waste anyone's time. Koorine is already priced extreemly well !!
2 new shafts water lubricated and all new bearings from the gear boxes back including new flex couplings, also new bearing for the rudders and the propellers. Every thing that needed to be done below water line has been done and is in very good condition. In addition to that, before we had the delivery done.
I had the mechanic go completely over the 2 engines, he removed the heat exchangers, cleaned and serviced them and changed any suspect hoses and belts, he also fitted new impeller / kits in the Jabsco water pumps. The service was very thorough as I didn't want and problems with the delivery. We fitted new anchor chain to the winch, it has only been in the water once to test before the trip down, the winch is a Nielsen and has a new motor and a new clutch making it affectively as new, it can be operated from the bow or from the nav station. All that is currently needed is some paint here and there.
There is much more that I have forgotten but I do have receipts for most things.
Koorine came down from Gosford NSW to Franklin TAS in 7 days with out any misshap. Since then we have had the alternators serviced and both starter motors replaced one only 2 weeks ago. 2 new fuel pumps also. All batteries are up to date, house were just replaced with some new solar panel's only weeks ago. About 8 weeks ago we had the hull scrubbed and new anode's also another $5k spent on a new SS Sampson post. Koorine represents extremely good value at the current price, we paid $145k and went on to spend the best part on another $100k. So at $120,000.00 she represents extremely good value to use as a cruiser or just live aboard.
