This was my introduction to the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795 Series 2, and what a pleasant surprise it was. I lot of thought has been put into the layout and overall design - It's very clever!
There are many aftermarket options on this vessel however before I go into more detail the first thing I noticed was the stability. For quite a small vessel she barely tilted as I stepped onboard. This I feel is one of the most important factors for pleasure boating.
The 225Hp Mercury outboard is ample power for the 795 Merry Fisher. Sure you could go higher but that would be driven more by ego than necessity.
There is a side door allowing perfect access from a jetty or catwalk. Alternatively you can step through the transom. Two large swimboards, one either side of the outboard are large enough to sit on and dangle your feet in the water.
The cockpit has multiple seating options. Some can be folded away making more space for fishing or for dragging your cray pots onboard. Plenty of shade is provided by the black Sumbrella bimini top and removable breezeway side screens.
Cabin entry is via a lockable sliding door. To starboard are two moulded sinks and a helm chair which tilts forward enabling more bench space for food preparation. To port is a dinette table which converts to a bed. The forward seat flips to face forward when cruising. Ahead of the helm is a separate toilet stall with a manual toilet and wash basin. A waste holding tank and fresh water tank are hidden under the central floor.
Up in the bow there is room to sleep two. Plastic wrap on the cushions show she has never been slept on.
Vision from the helm is excellent. The front windscreen is one piece - without mullions providing unobstructed views. The side windows have opening sliders. These combined with an opening sunroof provide good cross flow of air throughout the cabin. Internal window shades keep the sun out when required.
A good quality Simrad Multifunction Display with GPS plotter sounder and VHF Marine Radio are fitted and all you really need for safe navigation. An electric remote controlled windlass including one of the best anchors on the market - Ultra Stainless Steel spade anchor, is mounted on the bow.
To top off what is already a fantastic package, a sidepower bow thruster will make handling a breeze!
As a Rotto overnighter, and stable platform for fishing, diving or crabbing, I have to say I would definitely own one of these boats. They pack a lot into a smallish boat and are really well priced from new.
With just 30 hours on the Mercury outboard and a full service history, this 795 is ready to go!!
