LITTLE RIVER - CLASS 3C COMMERCIAL PRAWN TRAWLER | YAMBA
Little River is a well-presented commercial prawn trawler operating from Yamba, with authentic Northern Rivers heritage and substantial recent investment.
Built by Bob McLaren & Co of Ballina and launched in April 1974, she remains in active commercial service.
In May 2021, Moreton Bay Boat Works completed a comprehensive timber-hull restoration and composite conversion. The hull was stripped to sound bare timber and fully encapsulated in continuous fibreglass/GRP laminate from the keel, up the hull sides and over the deck edge. This created a sealed wood-GRP composite hull and barrier against external water ingress.
In June 2026, Little River successfully completed her latest AMSA survey and holds a Class 3C Certificate of Survey.
After careful consideration, the owners have decided to retire her from commercial prawn trawling. Current Australian economics no longer support the operation, and material improvement is not expected in the near term. This is a business decision--not a reflection of the vessel's condition, survey status or future potential. The owners are presenting her to the market while she remains in excellent condition.
No commercial fishing licences are included. NSW commercial fishing licences are separate assets and available only by separate negotiation.
Little River offers an excellent platform for continued commercial use, subject to the buyer's requirements, or conversion to recreational or other commercial purposes. Commercial fishing gear can be removed before handover if required.
A minimum three-month notice period will be given to the existing crew and associated personnel after a suitable buyer is found. Handover will follow that notice period.
Inspections and genuine enquiries are welcome.
