Nordhavn 47

YM is pleased to present this exceptional Australian-owned 2002 47' Nordhavn N47 'BUNYIP 1' as worldwide central agents.

'BUNYIP 1' is a highly capable 2002 Nordhavn 47, purpose-built for long-range offshore cruising and serious blue water passage making. Recognised globally as one of the most respected expedition yacht models ever produced, the Nordhavn 47 is renowned for combining commercial-grade engineering, ocean-crossing capability, and practical liveaboard comfort in a highly manageable size platform.

This particular vessel has already proven her offshore credentials through extensive international cruising. Having completed a major passage from North America to Queensland, she has since explored PNG, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Australian coastline extensively. Her cruising history highlights exactly what the Nordhavn 47 was designed to achieve, safe and comfortable long-distance exploration with genuine self-sufficiency.

Following her arrival in Australia, "Bunyip 1" was upgraded for practical offshore and recreational use, including modifications to the boat deck to accommodate a 4.3m Quintrex aluminium tender and the installation of a substantial 500kg ADC deck crane. The vessel is equipped with stainless steel Weaver deck chocks, making tender handling simple and secure during extended cruising.

The exterior systems aboard are exceptionally well suited to offshore operation. Her mast and boom arrangement supports the dry stack exhaust system while also functioning as the mounting platform for the Nordhavn paravane stabiliser outriggers. The vessel features the highly regarded Nordhavn paravane stabilisation system with extended spreaders, hinged boom outriggers, standing and running rigging, Kolstrand stabiliser fish, and Rule reversing electric boom winches. Hydraulic stabiliser fins provide additional comfort underway, while a flopper stopper assists with stability at anchor.

Internally, the vessel is beautifully finished for comfortable long-term living aboard. Handcrafted teak joinery, granite benchtops, teak and spruce flooring, and quality soft furnishings create a warm and timeless cruising environment. The saloon is bright and inviting with large surrounding windows delivering excellent visibility and natural light whether underway or at anchor. To starboard, a fixed teak dinette with L-shaped settee provides practical dining space, while an additional leather settee to port sits beneath the entertainment centre equipped with flat-screen television and Bose sound system.

The galley is thoughtfully integrated into the main living space, allowing excellent interaction while preparing meals onboard. Forward, a short stairwell leads to the raised pilothouse, providing excellent operational visibility and easy access to exterior walkways and the boat deck.

Accommodation aboard follows the highly desirable two-cabin configuration. The midship master stateroom is positioned for optimal comfort underway and features a queen-sized island berth with upgraded HMC innerspring mattress, generous storage beneath, cedar-lined lockers, bookshelves, drawers, and direct engine room access. The private ensuite is finished with granite surfaces, quality Grohe fixtures, tiled flooring, and a large separate shower.

Forward, the guest accommodation rivals a second master cabin with a large double berth, additional pullman berth, converted office space, extensive storage, cedar-lined hanging lockers, and private ensuite facilities. Excellent natural ventilation and light are provided through overhead hatches and portlights, including additional portlights integrated into the Portuguese bridge structure.

The onboard systems are designed for practical and efficient long-range cruising. The inverter and battery setup allows quiet operation at anchor without the constant need for generator use, comfortably powering refrigeration, freezers, and essential onboard systems during the day. Air conditioning and battery charging can then be managed efficiently overnight through generator operation.

Offered Australian registered with all duties and taxes paid, 'BUNYIP 1' represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a proven expedition yacht with genuine offshore pedigree. Combining world-renowned Nordhavn build quality, extensive cruising equipment, stabilisation systems, practical liveaboard accommodation, and proven passagemaking history, she is ideally suited for adventurous cruising throughout Australia, the Pacific, Southeast Asia, or beyond.
