Riviera 40 Open Flybridge

Riviera has built some remarkable boats, but none have found more owners than the 40 Open Flybridge. With more than 240 hulls launched, it remains the most-produced model in Riviera's history. This 2002 example shows why, it pairs that proven platform with an electronics fit-out and a list of upgrades you'd normally expect on something much newer.

There's real comfort in buying a model this well known. The layout works, balance of cockpit space, flybridge and liveable interior has stood up for more than two decades.

With twin Cummins 450 Diamond mechanical engines on shafts, and just 1,700 hours. These are the engines owners love for their simplicity and reliability, and this boat has had the right preventive work done. The shaft seals have been converted to PSS dripless, the Twin Disc damper plates replaced with urethane, and an Oil Xchanger system makes oil changes on the mains and genset a clean, easy job. A factory second fuel tank with transfer pump extends her range - giving her a total of 2500L of fuel capacity.

Up in the bridge the dual current-series Raymarine Axiom MFDs run Navionics Platinum charting with satellite overlay, linked to Doppler radar, AIS with transmitter and an autopilot with electronic rudder feedback. The Raymarine augmented reality forward camera is a standout, overlaying navigation data on live video, while the wireless second-station radio with intercom keeps the crew connected.

If you enjoy fishing, you have Relax 5.5 metre outriggers (repainted in 2020), a plumbed live bait well with LED lighting, plus a high-pressure deck wash. For longer weekends, she has air-conditioning to saloon & cabins, a Bosch heat-pump washer/dryer (new 2021), a Euro awning with stainless poles, a custom 450 litre water bladder giving you a total of 900L water, a Cel-Fi GO broadband extender and a cockpit TV that streams to the Axiom. Aqualuma underwater lights finish the evenings nicely.
