1987 Steber -- Excellent Condition, Extensive Upgrades

This 1987 Steber is presented in excellent condition and has benefited from numerous upgrades over the past 10 years. The vessel has been very well maintained throughout and clearly reflects careful ownership.

Powered by twin Perkins 6.354 diesel engines producing 240hp each, both motors have logged under 2,000 hours and have been consistently serviced. Perkins engines are well known for their reliability, and these start effortlessly every time and run smoothly.

The hydraulic steering helm pump and cylinder were both replaced in 2026, ensuring the steering is smooth, responsive and effortless.

At 2,200 RPM, the vessel comfortably achieves 14 knots cruising speed while consuming approximately 45 litres per hour. At full throttle (2,600 RPM), top speed is around 20 knots. Fuel capacity is a generous 1,334 litres, providing excellent range.

The boat is supplied with a 2021 Mercury tender and a 2019 Mercury 6hp four-stroke outboard.

Designed as a game fisher, the vessel features a large, open deck ideal for both fishing and entertaining. Deck amenities include a plumbed gas BBQ, fresh-water deck wash, and a full canopy for all-weather comfort.

Accommodation includes four permanent berths, with capacity to sleep up to six. The V-berth features a new 150mm-thick mattress installed in 2026, providing excellent comfort. The bathroom has also been upgraded with a new full-size porcelain toilet installed in 2026, connected to an 80-litre holding tank. Fresh water is supplied from a 300-litre potable water tank.

The spacious galley is exceptionally well laid out and includes a microwave, refrigerator, cooktop, and hot water system operating on both 240V and 12V lithium power.

The electrical system has been significantly upgraded, including a new 300Ah lithium house battery bank with DC/AC charger installed in 2026, supported by 200W of solar power. The vessel is also fitted with a 12V Ledi 20 LPH watermaker, newly installed in 2026, providing a reliable onboard freshwater supply for extended trips.

Electrical supply is further supported by a Coelmo DSM600 marine generator, delivering 6kVA of power. The generator was installed in 2020 and has logged under 500 hours.

Navigation and sounder systems are run through three Raymarine Axiom displays, connected to a DSM module and a 1kW CHIRP transducer, providing excellent situational awareness and fish-finding capability.

This vessel has been meticulously maintained and is presented in outstanding condition. While it is difficult to list every upgrade, the overall standard speaks for itself. The combination of proven twin Perkins diesel power, extensive recent upgrades, generous fuel and water capacity, lithium electrical system, watermaker, generator and comprehensive navigation equipment makes this a highly capable vessel for serious fishing, cruising and extended time on the water.
