What a pleasure it is for Motoryachts Unlimited to be given the privilege of representing this particular Sunrunner 3300 Sports Cruiser. It must be the absolute best in its class in Australia. I've been around boats of all sizes and styles for over 55 years and when I say it's the best set up and cared for vessel in this genre, I don't say it flippantly.
What sets it apart is that it is the only single engine powered Sunrunner 3300 available. And the current owner went to a lot of trouble to find it. This is simply because it delivers the same fantastic performance with half the running costs and maintenance of two engines. And with the standard bow thruster she is still a breeze to manoeuvre.
The current owner has also made sure this vessel is completely self-sufficient when it comes to living aboard, with simple systems that don't require a gen set. Another initiative that makes maintenance costs fade away. Not to mention there is no need to have a gen set upsetting the ambience (while you sip on your chardonnay) so you can heat up the hot water for your shower after dinner. Or have it rattling away just to run a few more volts into your house batteries. By the way, the current owner has attended to the hot water issue with the installation of a fantastic little diesel heater system that not only provides the heat for the hot water but doubles as a cabin heater for those winter cruises up the river or over to Rotto on those crisp still winter days we so often enjoy in Perth.
When it comes to overall presentation this sports cruiser sits way above vessels of a similar age and would make much younger boats look embarrassed. The current owner has attended to some fresh upholstery in the cockpit and helm areas, along with fresh carpets throughout. Just to name a few of the improvements.
These Sunrunner 3300 Sports Cruisers came in a few different configurations. Skymaze III has almost no built-in seating in the cockpit, leaving you with the flexibility of using individual chairs that can be placed wherever you chose and folded away when not in use. Perhaps while out fishing for example. There is however a small built in bench seat forward of the cockpit on the starboard side that has had the under seat storage cleverly converted into a fantastic icebox. Perfect for the obligatory cold drinks and a bag of ice. The cockpit area also flows seamlessly aft through the transom door onto the ample swim platform. Another great place to relax and set up the BBQ on the bait board and custom stainless-steel rail that doubles as dinghy and outboard or kayak storage.
Moving forward from the rear cockpit you find comfortable seating in the form of a settee/lounge opposite the helm seat. The skipper and his guests can be comfortable and included in the conversation whilst cruising and enjoying the view.
Down three steps into the cabin is where this boat packs a punch in providing very bright and airy accommodation, seating, dining and sleeping space. The galley is to port with a two-burner gas cooktop, sink and fridge freezer. All beautifully presented with marble look Corion bench tops. The perfect area for preparing those platters of goodies for your guests. Opposite the galley is the ample bathroom equipped with shower and toilet. Moving further forward this Sunrunner is set up with vee shaped settees to port and starboard and a dining table between. Both settees convert to bunks when required.
The best sleeping accommodation is found aft of the galley. Effectively under the cockpit area. Here you will find a lounge along the port side and a double bed opposite. An owners spacious area tucked away. And for those who find it hard to sleep on boats, this double bed is well aft from the slapping of the water at the bow that so often diminishes the quality of sleep when having the master in the bow.
For those who take an interest in all matters under the bonnet, you are in for a treat. Not just in the cleanliness and the fact it has a near new engine with a mere 179 hours on the clock. But also, the simplicity and effectiveness of the systems that have been thoughtfully added. Plenty of house battery capacity that is fed from the solar panels and controlled by the Victron management equipment installed new in 2025. And separate engine cranking batteries.
'Turn key' is an often over used term. But with all new electronics in 2024 and only about 30 hours added to the engine hours since its last service, fresh batteries, fantastic covers and virtually nothing left to do, I can't see any reason this boat would hold you back from enjoying some quality time on our waterways this summer.
