Adams 12

Pedigree, history and heritage describe this fast and comfortable Adams 12. Designed by Joe Adams, this aft cockpit version was built in 1983 by the Trewartha Brothers in Warrnambool Victoria for a member of the Royal Brighton Yacht Club Vic to compete in the 1984 Sydney Hobart race. (and again in 1988). This Adams 12 is known and respected as a safe, fast, vice-free offshore capable cruising yacht with a remarkably successful racing record and pedigree. Carina is comprehensively equipped and has benefited from a solid program of continuous upgrades and maintenance. The well-laid-out cruising interior with 6'2" headroom makes for comfortable cruising. The vessel is set up to be safely sailed single handed, or by a couple or a small family.

The important ingredients: All new rigging March 2024,10 winches recently serviced with everything controlled from the cockpit. Keel and keel bolts sound and secure. The latest Raymarine Axiom suite including Quantum radar. New stainless through hull fittings in 2022,4 x VHF plus HF radios, near new lifejackets and safety equipment. Anti-fouled March 2025. Powered by a rebuilt Perkins 4-108 with less than 100 hours. An out of water insurance survey from August 2026 is available for serious enquiries. Receipts available for more than $55k spent since 2023.

The cockpit is sheltered by a spray dodger and bimini. A substantial table with cup holders makes this a popular space to relax at anchor. Below the deck, the teak fit-out is all quality. Aft, to port and starboard, are double quarter berths. The dinette with a fold-leaf table is midship with settees around and opposite. The cushions and upholstery were new in 2022. The bathroom (with shower) is forward of the bulkhead. Forward again to the roomy V berth cabin with a single bunk. Saloon berths are set up with lee-cloths. Sleeps 6 in comfort and can accommodate up to 8.

The L-shaped galley is strategically located to service both the cockpit and dinette. It is an excellent sea galley; there is plenty of bench space for food preparation and storage sufficient for extended cruises. The top-loading Danfoss fridge/freezer, the gimballed Roden gas stove/oven and the large stainless steel sink with cold/hot water all within easy reach of the cook.

The helm pedestal pod houses a suite of Raymarine ST6000 instruments including depth, speed, wind and autopilot. These are integrated into the Raymarine Axiom 9+ chart plotter with Garmin Navionics charts and Quantum radar. She has a fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder for stability and positive helm control, including autopilot. The engine is the ever-reliable 50 hp Perkins 4-108 which was replaced in April 2025 with a reconditioned long motor. The electrical systems include a newly installed alternator, 280ah bank of lithium batteries, DC-DC charger and a 400 watt solar panel, all new in 2024.

Is she perfect ? No, there are some cosmetic items scheduled for replacement that can either be done before or after the sale.
