Ocean-Going Liveaboard Cruiser | Proven Bluewater Yacht | Private Sale
After an incredible voyage from the Gold Coast, Australia to Lombok, Spirit of Tommie is now available for her next adventure. She's a beautifully presented, solid, and seaworthy Adams Carina 44 -- a classic design by Joe Adams, renowned for his safe, capable offshore cruisers.
Before departure, extensive upgrades were completed at The Boat Works, making her one of the best-equipped Adams 44s afloat. I've poured hundreds of hours of labour into this vessel -- there's truly nothing left to fix.

Sailing Performance
She carries a large, powerful rig ideal for light airs, complemented by Adams' brilliant retractable-keel design. The keel-up draft of 1.45 m (4'9") allows access to shallow anchorages most monohulls can't reach, while the 2.9 m (9'6") draft down gives her the stiffness and power to comfortably eat up the miles offshore.
Engine & Mechanical
Repowered in 2011 with a Nanni Diesel, based on the bulletproof Kubota block. Engine access is excellent -- simply remove the companionway stairs for full visibility and serviceability.
Interior & Comfort
Below deck, Spirit of Tommie offers a warm, practical, and social layout ideal for liveaboard life or extended cruising.
Generous saloon and dining area with solid timber finishes throughout
Well-equipped galley with loads of storage
Forward cabin with large double berth
Private head and shower to starboard
Aft cabin with a second double berth and a ¾ pilot berth, perfect for passage-making or guests
Her solid timber fit-out gives a sense of strength, warmth, and security not found in many lightweight production yachts.
Summary
S pirit of Tommie is a proven, self-sufficient, ocean-going liveaboard that's ready to keep crossing oceans or serve as a comfortable floating home. Every system has been thoughtfully upgraded with reliability, simplicity, and independence in mind.
She's truly adventure-ready -- just step aboard and sail away
