Adams 45 Masthead Cutter - Blue Water Cruiser

Designed by renowned Australian naval architect Joe Adams and custom-built by a professional shipwright in Port Stephens NSW, LOTTE is a heavily upgraded Adams 45 prepared for serious offshore cruising.

Following an extensive multi-year refit completed in 2022, she presents as a technically refined bluewater cruising yacht with comprehensively renewed systems including electrical, plumbing, rigging, navigation electronics, steering, hull coatings, anchoring systems and interior refurbishment.

Combining the proven offshore pedigree of the Adams 45 design with practical systems redundancy and substantial cruising autonomy, LOTTE offers a rare opportunity to acquire a genuinely capable long-range cruising platform.

2 x out of water surveys can be provided. The first from when I purchased the boat in 2011, which includes a hull thickness test, and the second from the relaunch in 2022.

Electrics
The full systems refurbishment between 2015 and 2022 covered the following.
- The entire electrical supply cabling system was replaced with 12v marine grade tinned cable.
- A dedicated Engine Switch Panel was constructed and fitted. This provides a level of battery isolation from the house system and ensures that cranking battery depletion as a result of other system draw does not occur.
- The main house system was full replaced with BEP switches
- A Nav Station Panel was constructed and fitted. It houses the Raymarine VHF Radio, the MA-205 Fusion Stereo, Fuel, Water and Waste Tank/s Level Gauges and the Forward and Aft Bilge control switches.
Battery Management System
- The battery management system comprises of two main sets of batteries.
- Engine Starting is serviced by 2 x 100ah Century Lead Acid batteries and a separate engine switching panel. The engine has 2 x positions for starting and stopping (1) saloon panel and (b) helm station. This panel can switch between one or two batteries for cranking and a VCR to ensure both benefit from alternator based charging.
- An marine uprgaded 85amp Bosch alternator has been fitted.
- A Balmar 614MC smart charger is fitted.
- An AIS unit is fitted and interfaced to the Raymarine SeaTalk NG system.
- The house battery bank can be diverted to engine starting needs via a separate switch. This is considered a 3rd level of starting redundancy. This also allows users to divert alternator charging to the house system.
- The house battery management system comprises of 4 x 100Ah AGM batteries that are supply power to all systems except engine cranking.
- A Victron12/20 DC to DC Smart Charger is fitted that diverts excess charge from the alternator when the engine is running.
- A series of solar panels fitted to the AFT targus rail provides charging to the batteries as follows via
- 1 x 300w Panel (House)
- 1 x 80W Panel (House)
- 1 x 80w Panel - (Starting)
NB - the separate battery systems allows for Lithium upgrade if required. The Victron DC to DC Smart Charger can provide charge for either lead acid, AGM or Lithium.
