Alan Payne Ampopetta 38 Project boat. Free.

This Alan Payne designed iconic Ampopetta design, "Rudyard Kipling" is a plywood hard-chine sloop very similar to the Tasman Seabird.
Rudyard Kipling was built by Mose & Hoye in Sydney.
I believe the timber framing is Philippine Mahogany with 3/4" ply sheeting. It has a solid cast iron keel and fin rudder.
The Ampopetta class was originally designed to beat the IOR rules and an entry level blue water sailing boat.

The boat was originally built for the late author Joshua Peter Bell F. R. G. S. Who named the boat "Rudyard Kipling". Joshua changed the rig from a sloop to a yawl. Joshua sailed Rudyard Kipling extensively around Moreton Bay. Joshua Peter Bell F. R. G. S. Wrote many editions of the book "Moreton Bay And How To Fathom It". The 1975, Sixth Edition of Moreton Bay And How To Fathom It, has this quote on page 3: "To RUDYARD KIPLING and all who have crewed on her". Joshua also sailed Rudyard Kipling to Noumea and back to Australia. The storey of the trip was written up in the Modern Boating book August 1968.
Peter Holm then bought the boat, changed the rig to a ketch and completed in over twenty Brisbane to Gladstone yacht races.
They had a great reputation for being a dry, light and quick boat often out performing the Tasman Seabird.

I know personally of only three other Ampopetta's left in the world.

This definitely would be a one off if restored to original and displayed at the Wooden Boat Festival in Tasmania.

I am giving Rudyard Kipling away for FREE, to a good home.
I have had Rudyard Kipling since 2004 in a shed and restoring to original. Unfortunately I have to move house and I have no where else to put it, so Rudyard Kipling is looking for a new home with a lovely person to restore her.

I will pass on everything that I have from when I received Rudyard Kipling in 2004. Original bronze winches, sails, timber masts, stanchion's, lots of paperwork etc.
I have kept all the original parts so they can be used as templates and also drawings noting all deck hardware position's before they were removed.
Rudyard Kipling also comes with the steel cradle.
Rudyard Kipling still has current Australian Registration which can be transferred with the bill of sale.

There is thousands of dollars worth of value in all the winches, sail's, etc.
Must be taken in complete package with Rudyard Kipling.

I hope someone is able to take Rudyard Kipling, as have to find a new owner by 1st December 2025 as I am moving house.
On the 2nd December 2025 the add will come down and it will be cut up & scrapped. It'll be sad to see so much history vanish.
