The Amel Mango has earned an enviable reputation as one of the world's most capable bluewater cruising yachts, designed and built by the renowned French shipyard Amel in La Rochelle, France. Introduced as the flagship of the Amel range, the Mango was conceived by Henri Amel as a robust, comfortable and highly self-sufficient offshore cruiser.
"Gradiva" is a 1987 Amel Mango, one of the final examples of this legendary model before production evolved into the Super Maramu series. Significantly, she was factory fitted with the Amel Super Maramu in-mast furling mainsail system.
Designed for serious passage making, Gradiva has circumnavigated the globe, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans before arriving in Australia. Purchased by her current owners in 2018, she has since cruised extensively throughout Australian waters.
The interior has been thoughtfully arranged to provide exceptional comfort underway while offering generous accommodation for extended liveaboard cruising.
Accommodation is spread across four separate cabins with sleeping capacity for up to eight people. The spacious main saloon forms the social heart of the yacht, with flexible seating and ample storage throughout.
A dedicated navigation station, practical galley with refrigeration, freezer, LPG stove and hot and cold pressurised water, together with a generous owner's cabin aft, make this a highly capable long-distance cruising home.
The Amel Mango's deck layout has been designed around safety, practicality and ease of handling for short-handed crews. Wide side decks, substantial safety rails and a secure centre cockpit inspire confidence offshore.
The large protected cockpit features a substantial enclosure system suitable for year-round cruising. In-mast furling, electric furling systems and the versatile ketch rig make sail handling safe and straightforward.
Power is provided by a Perkins 4.236 diesel engine producing 75hp through a shaft drive arrangement.
The vessel benefits from substantial fuel and water capacities, solar charging, Victron electrical equipment, lithium house batteries, inverter, generator and watermaker systems.
Navigation equipment includes radar, chartplotter, AIS, VHF communications, autopilot and comprehensive cruising instrumentation.
Few yachts have achieved the legendary status of the Amel Mango, and even fewer examples become available in Australia.
Gradiva combines genuine ocean-crossing capability with exceptional comfort, proven cruising history and a comprehensive inventory of equipment. Her circumnavigation credentials, extensive Australian cruising experience and renowned Amel build quality make her an outstanding opportunity for sailors seeking a serious bluewater cruising yacht.
Whether your plans involve coastal exploration, liveaboard cruising or offshore adventures, Gradiva is a vessel ready to continue her remarkable story.
