Description: Bristol 38.8 -Adorable Bluewater Cruiser with Centreboard
Launched in 1983, Gossamer is a prime example of a well-loved, and well-travelled Bristol 38.8. Her owners have completed significant upgrades and spent several seasons cruising from the U. S. A across the Pacific to New Zealand, finally arriving in Australia for the latter part of 2023 to take in the Qld coast as far as the Whitsundays. Gossamer is well equipped for life on the open ocean with a reliable Beta engine with little more than 1000 hours and numerous options for sailing in all conditions. Her interior storage allows a couple to live comfortably for long periods of time, carry lots of spares while enjoying the simplicity of sailing without stretching the budget. Auxiliary power is abundant thanks to a large 390w solar panel, wind generator and a recently upgraded battery bank, thus negating the need for generator.
Gossamer's warm and comfortable interior layout is functional and spacious with 1-cabin and 1 large head in the bow. This is perfect for a couple who like to entertain, with a large folding dining table with sleeping quarters for additional guests or family. The large open-plan dining/saloon/galley and nav station really enhance the yacht's interior living space.
The cosy and protected cockpit is fitted with superb dodger and canvas bimini to provide full shelter. A newly fitted davits houses a sailing dinghy, with a Magma BBQ mounted on the pushpit. There are numerous storage lockers including a dedicated gas bottle locker and a very large deep portside cockpit locker for spare equipment and sails.
Gossamer is fitted with a near-new Simrad GPS plotter and autopilot, upgraded cockpit winches and an extensive sail wardrobe. Her rigging was replaced in 2018 and a solid boom vang added.

Remarks
Great light airs yacht. Cruises at 5.5-6.5kts. Max 7.5kts. Excellent storage. Sails extremely well without centreboard. Great for shallow anchorages and reef areas. The owners report having had a 175NM day between Vanuatu and Australia and that she will make at least 7.5kts in the right conditions. Fully imported and all duty paid.
