Just relisted - she was off the market several months.
Osprey A is fitted out for cruising. She is also suitable for twilight racing as she performs very well.
Built by legendary Geoff Baker in 1969, she is a comfortable, tough, fibreglass yacht that has sailed to Vanuatu, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria.
Rig: Tall strong and powerful, double spreader rig with new mainsail cover. Either sloop or cutter set up. The entire rig - Mast boom, sails rigging was replaced about 15 years ago, it has had little use since then as my father is approaching 80. So the working sails are 15 years old, but have been under UV protection the whole time and are in great condition. Triple reef points on mainsail.
The standing rigging uses Sta-Lok (Reusable swag less terminals) So to replace the standing rigging, you just need to buy a roll of wire and do one piece at a time.
Sails: Main, furling genoa, numbers 4 Jib and Storm jib. Also light weather drifter / MPS. And Storm Mainsail /Trisail.
Equipment: Kubota Diecon 26.5 Hp diesel motor with dripless shaft bearing and a Hydrolign three bladed feathering propeller, electric anchor winch with plenty of chain and a 15 kg Rocna anchor, Inflatable hypalon Avon dinghy with Oars and pump, Solar panels, Horse Shoe life ring; man overboard rescue sling, Fittings for on deck life raft. Main anchor (Rocna 35 lb (15kg), spare CQR 35 lb), Lots of 3/8'' gal short link chain. Spares for all kinds of useful things will go with the boat.
Interior: Chart table over freezer; Galley with methylated two burner stove, sink, fridge/freezer, crockery & cutlery; Double forward berth, one quarter-berth, two settee berths. The dining table lowers to make a double berth which incorporates one of the settees. Main cabin berths are fitted with lee cloths; book cases; stereo; enclosed toilet with basin.
Osprey sails fantastically in both heavy weather and light airs. While more modern yachts with wide sterns have more accommodation, yachts of Ospreys era are much better behaved at sea.
Her sister ship, Berrimilla II (Was for sale for $47,000) finished first place in her division in the notoriously bad 1998 Sydney to Hobart. These are tough capable yachts.
Osprey was set up for single or two up ocean sailing by my father who is famous for sailing a 25 footer around the world in the 70s. He sailed Osprey around Tasmania, New Zealand and New Caledonia as well as trips to north Qld and Lord Howe Island with my Mother.
Osprey is now an older vessel that could do with some more love - she has a really solid hand laid hull with integral keel and everything is practical and solidly built. She could take you anywhere you want.
Was valued for insurance at $55K. So $29K is a bargain
Location; Killaben Bay, Lake Macquarie.
Be quick - At this price, ONO, I think she will go to a new owner soon.
The video is worth a watch. Lots of info.

Mast / Rigging
Sta-loc Fittings make standing rigging easy to replace. Mast, boom, standing rigging and working sails all replaced 15 years ago and have had little use since (Father getting elderly) But the sails have been covered. Just a little mildew. See photos.
Deck Gear
Lots of Deck gear in all the right places and lots of spare blocks and pulleys too.
