The Buizen 48 has achieved iconic status as a handmade Australian yacht with true integrity. Each example was built to order by Buizen with a rich heritage for fine craftsmanship with each one requiring an investment of 12 months and over 10,000 man hours.
The genius pilothouse layout in the Buizen 48 allows 180 degree vision with its wraparound windscreen, like a power boat or catamaran. The cockpit and saloon are all on one level, so you have a brilliant indoor/outdoor connection. Steer from the large, aft cockpit when the weather is nice under the shade of the bimini or move inside in rough weather or long passages where the skipper can enjoy absolute protection and great visibility from the internal helm station that has all the controls needed to drive and navigate you vessel from.
The cockpit area is large, even for a yacht of the vintage with a central helm station that has push button control over the electric/hydraulic furling mainsail, furling genoa, electric winches, thrusters and other controls. The sturdy stainless steel and teak push pit seats provide seating for 4 in comfort looking into the cockpit area. Aft of the pushpit you'll find electric davits and the Highfield 3.10 m tender with 9.8 HP 2 stroke outboard. Moving forward on deck feels safe and easy thanks to high hand rails and sturdy gunwales.
Step inside the raised saloon you'll feel the quality of the Buizen cabinetry mixed with an abundance of light from the large wrap around windows and various opening hatches. The L shaped dinette to port is a great place to look out at the surrounds while fully protected from the elements. Moving forward you'll pass the indoor helm station to starboard, move down a few stairs to the lower level and you'll find a huge U shaped galley area, that remains connected to the raised saloon. Aft of the raised saloon below the cockpit is a storage/workroom to starboard and guest double cabin to port. Forward of the galley area is a head compartment and double bunk cabin to starboard, the master cabin is further forward in the bow with ensuite.
As with all Buizen 48's 'Foxy Lady' is loaded with top quality gear needed for serious, luxurious blue water cruising such as Yanmar 100Hp shaft drive diesel, Onan 7 KVA generator, air conditioning, water maker, bow thruster, safety gear, covers, spares, and so much more.
