Buizen 48

'Equinox' is a Buizen 48, hull 20, launched in November 2002 and is exclusively for sale with YOTI.

Hand built in Australia, Buizen yachts comfortably sit heads above when comparing to standard cruising yachts. The level of quality in construction, comfort, and functionality is genuinely difficult to compare. Equinox is an impressive example with a comprehensive specification and shows a pleasing maintenance history.

The Buizen design is clearly centered around the Pilot House / Deck Saloon interior. Think all weather protection and a safe and welcoming saloon space that truly connects with your surroundings - very few options come close to offering the same. Her layout features the additional twin cabin opposite the galley which gives maximum accommodation and internal storage space. The master cabin is forward with private ensuite, the galley is more akin to a mini superyacht, there is a comfortable private double-aft cabin, a second day head and shower plus the very practical pilot berth cabin.

Equinox includes all the major options that only the most comprehensively specified 48's have: bow thruster, generator, air-conditioning, davits, water maker, removeable inner forestay with stay sail, plus all four cockpit winches are powered. Sails include the in-boom furling main, genoa, #3, staysail, furling gennaker, and both storm jib and trysail.

Equinox enjoyed a major electrical upgrade in recent years with a substantial amount of the wiring replaced, all new auto-pilot and new cockpit chart plotter in 2024, all new batteries in 2025. The Yanmar 110Hp has been regularly and professionally maintained. In 2024 the hull was completely stripped, soda blasted and new coatings applied making her like new under the water.

Equinox has stretched her legs into the Pacific in recent years, so she is AMSA registered and has been kept in Blue Water sailing condition.
