CHIEFTAIN 38  

The chieftain 38is a fin keel design, built in New Zealand by the Cook Brothers and is now exclusively for sale with DBY Boat sales. The Chieftain is exceptionally roomy below decks and also in the huge centre cockpit. They sail well for the volume. The rig (sloop) is practical rather than high performance, therefore easily handled. Current owner almost always sails single handed.

For a 38 footer, she is bigger in volume than most similar length yachts. The gorgeous NZ Kauri pine interior is well laid out and is ideal for cursing; or for those who appreciate a high degree of comfort.

The centre cockpit is massive - able to seat up to 10 if required. A Raymarine autopilot and comprehensive instrumentation, a practical dodger and bimini, and mainsail lines to cockpit ensure easy, comfortable passage making. In the forepeak, a V-berth double private cabin with loads of cupboard space. The beamy main saloon is a large entertainment area with comfortable settees. The spacious U-shaped galley has generous pantry and bench space. The cleverly designed shower, head and basin separates the massive, private aft cabin from the saloon area.

The immaculate Volvo diesel 30hp has done just 270 hours, and the boat has been very well maintained throughout. Nothing needs to be added or replaced - simply hoist the sails and enjoy... !
